Heat bloomed beneath her ribs. She gasped as his fingers reached her panties-still damp from her commute. Claire closed her eyes as his index slid inside the waistband. Slow. Gentle. He teased. The outline of his fingers pressing down through the fabric had nothing to do with books. He opened the desk drawer and yanked it open just enough to hide his hand from library cameras-and not enough to provide real cover. His wrist disappeared under the desk and into her panties. She gasped, hips jerking forward.

The couple encouraged each other daily. “We’ll have money next year. Luck will finally be on our side then!” “Honey, once I get rich, I’ll treat you right!” Humans seemed to cling to dreams in hard times, like the little match girl in the snow. She lit her sticks, dreaming of warmth and comfort, only to freeze to death that winter. It was time to shatter their illusions. I had been wondering how to do it elegantly and gently. I pretended not to know anything. It was just to savor that moment of sweet satisfaction.

***Hyacinth*** The city buzzed with life, its energy reminiscent of the bustling streets back in the Philippines. The traffic was chaotic, though not as unbearable as what I was used to. Despite the honking horns and the sea of people, I felt a spark of excitement. This new city promised adventure, and I could already imagine weaving its essence into my novel. Raven has been an endless source of inspiration lately, his magnetic presence fueling my creativity, especially when it came to writing those steamy, heart-racing scenes.
