SYRA “Blessed Luna?” Luiz let out a sharp chuckle, setting his glass down. “What the actual hell did I miss while being locked up in this room?” Linda walked in, settling a tray of coffee on the center table. “So… what exactly is a Blessed Luna?” she asked, curiosity peeking through her usual calm demeanor. “It’s an urban legend among the wolf clans,” Jackson chimed in, grabbing a mug. “A powerful figure, born with unmatched abilities. Supposedly destined to rise when the wolves are on the brink of collapse.”

Selene’s breath caught, not out of fear of being struck though luna’s rage was sharp enough to cut but out of the terrible, magnetic pull of the bond between them. “Your compassion blinds you,” Luna said softly, though the softness was far more dangerous than a roar. “I admire it. I even crave it. But compassion does not stop swords.” She leaned close, her voice brushing Selene’s ear. “I will crush callista before she takes one breath too many on my lands.” Selene’s jaw tightened. “And how many of your own people will you sacrifice in the process? How many more orphans will wander these forests because their alpha only knows how to kill?”

I said, my voice low and cold enough to slice through the air, “and I swear you will regret it.” The crowd gasped. Brianna threw her head back and laughed, a cruel, shrill sound that made my wolf bristle. “You? Make me regret? Do you even know who I am?” She stepped closer, her perfume thick and suffocating. “I am Brianna, future Luna of Montgomery Moonrise. You should be on your knees right now, begging to lick the ground I walk on.” Her words cut deep, each syllable a blade, but I didn’t move. My wolf howled louder inside me, my hands shaking, not from fear but from the unbearable urge to rip her throat out.

Lilith’s lips curved into a cruel smile, her nails dragging across the table until wood splintered beneath them. “No,” she whispered to the fire, her icy eyes gleaming. “She glows because she is a fool. And fools are easily destroyed.” She began to weave her plan tighter, threads of betrayal pulling into place. The human Luna would fall. And when she did, Stormfang would remember who truly belonged at Lucian’s side.

Luna stood before her bedroom mirror the next morning, barely recognizing the person staring back at her. Her violet eyes, once bright with innocence, now held a darkness that made even Silver pace restlessly within her mind. The study was dark, lit only by the blue-white glow of the monitor and the orange ember of a cigarette burning in the crystal ashtray. Killian Alatorre sat in the high-backed leather chair, a glass of amber whiskey untouched on the mahogany desk. His hand rested on the mouse, his index finger hovering over the button. Click. The video rewound. Play. On the screen, Luna's face filled the frame. It was the moment just before she cried. The split second where her composure fractured, where whatever mask she'd been wearing dissolved completely, and something raw peered out from beneath the grime and the painted bruise.

She wiped the crimson stain away with the back of her hand, her eyes narrowing as she locked gazes with the mysterious figure. Realization dawned on her face, a mix of betrayal and fury. "You," she hissed, her voice laced with venom. "Hah! Never thought I was being played all along."
