Morwen’s hands shook as she drew a new one in her own blood. Veyra chanted, voice trembling, offering her animus like a sacrifice. They placed fresh relics,black crystals, bone shards, and a lock of hair wrapped in silver thread into the center. They were trying to rebind the Hollow. To force it back under their control. I almost laughed. They didn’t understand. The Hollow wasn’t a tool. It was a consequence. And consequences don’t obey liars. I left them there, bleeding and begging in the dark, and returned to my dorm.

Even the wolves pacing alongside the caravan moved with ears low and fur bristled. “Stay sharp,” Kael whispered, his hand never straying far from the hilt of his blade. “This fog isn’t just weather, it's a warning.” As they reached the base of the Highland slope, the fog parted abruptly. Like a mouth opening. They entered. The Hollow Basin was a wound in the land. A perfect circle of blackened earth, ringed by ancient stones etched with runes that shimmered faintly under the red sky. At its center was a spiraling pit, no bottom in sight, filled with a humming sound that was neither alive nor mechanical. It simply *was.*

The creator shouted sharply— “IT’S USING HIS GRIEF AS AN ENTRY POINT!” The giant pushed harder against the sky fractures. Silver light trembled violently. The Devourer roared across the heavens. But the Hollow kept spreading. The alternate Silas fell to his knees shaking. And suddenly— I understood the horrifying truth. The Hollow wasn’t chasing Hope. It was chasing the pain surrounding her. A creature born from timelines that gave up on healing. Hope pulsed desperately through the bond. Then softly whispered one terrified word:

The trees grew denser here, taller, older, their roots knotted deep into the earth. The air hummed with something quiet but alive, like the forest itself was watching us. The Hollow wasn’t just a place. It was a sanctuary. The wolves had carved it out years ago, hidden beneath layers of spellwork and earth, woven into a valley wrapped in mist. No outsider had ever set foot here and lived to talk about it. The wards thrummed as we approached, soft pulses brushing against my skin like curious fingers.
