Today, Holly looked quite spirited and sat on the edge of the bed, holding Chris’s hand, talking a lot. Being trained in medicine, Chris naturally knew what this meant. A final glimmer of life. He was reluctant to believe it, but it was clear that his mother had reached the end. “I don’t feel tired today. By the way, Chris, take this book with you.” Holly handed the book to Chris, suddenly looking a little anxious. She glanced at the door, ensuring it was closed, before whispering, “You must keep this book safe. No matter what, do not let anyone see it.”

I tell him before ducking outside and sparking up a smoke as I lean on my polished bike. My thoughts wander to the woman who called herself Flames last night. She'd had my attention as soon as her wide green eyes had met mine, her full lips curled in an amused smile as she casually dealt with Tanya. When she walked into the bar, I'd stood back and observed as everyone tracked the fiery red heads movements through the room. Whether she meant to or not, she managed to get the attention of everyone in there and I'm sure caused a few to suffer from their eyes wandering off of their ol' ladies. She went and sat on the far side of our bed, waiting. Holly looked up at me, and licked her lips. Her hand moved just a little more. "Go on. You know you want to. I want you to. She slowly dropped to her knees in front of me, and eased my boxers down, releasing my fully charged staff to the light of day.

She came across a couple of other books but she knew none of them will give her any information on what she sought after; ‘Moon Goddess' Mate’ by U. Tipper, ‘The Hybrid's special Guide’ by L. O. Klark, ‘Tribid Greed’ by Steve Reynolds, and a lot of other books.

Bryce took a seat on the couch and turned on the television. He didn't want to watch it. However, it was too quiet and empty. He needed some noise to make it feel less empty. As he placed the remote aside, he saw a book on the couch. He grabbed it to have a look. It was titled "The World of Artifacts". Bryce flipped open the book and saw scribbling all over the pages. It was full of notes inside. The small and beautiful writing was graceful like Holly. She truly was a smart woman who looked ordinary and didn't crave fame or profit. Holly wasn't fit for a complicated life full of trickery.

And now I'm ready for whatever comes next. I turn toward the tunnel exit. Toward the surface. Toward the people waiting. Toward my future. But as I take the first step, something shifts. Deep in the earth. Beneath the vault. Something ancient responding to the bonding. A presence. Massive. Old. Waking. Not the stone. Something else.
