“What does the Hallow want with her?” I close the book. The shadows freeze. Then lean in. Listening. “It wants what I want,” I say quietly. “What I’ve always wanted.” Jason’s eyes widen. “Brad… you’re scaring me.” “Good.” I stand, the prophecy book in my hand, the Hallow’s power crawling up my spine like a second heartbeat. “Raven is the key,” I whisper. “To ending this. To ending everything.” Jason shakes his head. “Ending what?”

Just then, Ryker, with a cruel grin, grabbed the rosary and ripped it out of me, the sensation sending a final, shocking jolt of pleasure through my body, adding to the symphony of my ruin. "Stella," Sister Ophelia whispered, her voice cracking with disbelief. The sound of my name, spoken with such sorrow, was like a bucket of ice water. The pleasure-induced haze that had clouded my mind instantly evaporated, replaced by a cold wave of dread. I slammed my legs shut, the abrupt movement a desperate attempt to reclaim a dignity that was already long gone.

Chapter Two: The Book of Repentance. Ciara's PoV: The lock clicked behind me and the sound went straight through my body like a second heartbeat. I stood there in the sacristy, breath caught, staring at Father Chris. The room wasn’t dark anymore. He had lit four tall candles on the side table, their flames dancing across the stone walls and throwing warm gold light over the heavy wooden table in the center. A big leather-bound book lay open on it, thick pages glowing in the candlelight.

Shadow ran up to him, nuzzling his hand and wagging her tail. "Shadow, come here, girl! Where is she?" Andrew asked, picking up her trailing leash. As if he expected an answer, he asked again. "Where is Holly?" Shadow whined and pulled him down the hill. Holly lay on the ground, her hands digging into the steep hillside like she was fighting to stay upright. Pools of pine needles lay around her and her face was covered in dirt and ash. "Holly!" he cried. He could see the fire in the trees, flames licking up and down the parched bark. He dropped his shirt and ran toward her, yelling, "Ray, I found her!" as Shadow barked.

I heard Elisa's yelled so I ran into her. “I told you to make it fast and yet you took a 10 minutes just to buy a piece of ice cream?” I mentioned. She hugged me. “Lets just go, okay?” Whatever. But how about this pencil? “I'll just put it in my pocket. I might need it next time.” I whispered. And unbothered put the thing inside my pocket. _@cheedy.

Was she here the whole time? She wasn’t done with her dramatics. She pulled back, still clutching Kael’s arm. “I’ve been thinking,” she announced with the same confidence she used when entering a room, “maybe I should join this book club too. I’d love to read something scandalous and fun.” Maya smiled politely. “We’re always open to new members.” “Perfect!” Hazel beamed, then turned toward me with a sharp glint in her eyes. “But… if I’m going to join, don’t you think the president should set the right example?”

Was all she said, her voice much softer than mine. “I’m not a practicing one, but I know the craft.” Rowena nodded pleasantly, reaching down to where her bag sat on the floor. She pulled two leather-bound books from within, the covers dry and peeling. They smelled of oils and dried lavender as she held them out for Holly. “I understand how difficult this is—for both of you. To be unprepared for your own awakening, it’s not something I would wish on any young witch. I am not here to force you into anything. These books are to read at your own pleasure, while you decide if my help is something you might want.”

I ask hoarsely. Holly slaps me in the face and I feel my lip split open and I can smell and taste my own blood. "I saved her and she now owns me a debt and I might be a good friend of her so it doesn't matter what you say to her. She will never leave my side, got it?" I nod and glare at Holly. "Good now I will just give ju a gift and then walk out so you two can be friends in torture or something other painfully fun" Holly says and smiles and before I can react she drives a silver stake inside my stomach and lit it on fire.

In her outstretched hands, was a diary. I grabbed it cautiously, examining the intricate patterns on the cover. I opened it and gasped. I immediately shoved the diary back in her hands. “No, Holly I couldn't possibly take that.” I said, shaking my head vigorously. Holly chuckled, a light warm sound that seeped into my bones, grounding me.
