After everything. After all the work I put in. After all the blood. I reach the television and slam my palm against it, the screen flickering violently but staying alive, just like them. I grab the remote and pause it mid-frame. Anna’s face freezes in a soft smile, Alex leaning toward her, protective, smug. The door behind me creaks. “Sir?” a trembling voice asks. “What’s going on?” I stiffen. Slowly, I turn. The housekeeper stands frozen at the doorway, eyes wide, hands clenched in the fabric of her uniform. Fear pours off her in waves. Good. Fear keeps people quiet.

My blood ran cold, and a paralyzing fear consumed me. “No…” I choked out, on the verge of tears. All I could do was pray that the video hadn't shown my face. But fate was not on my side. The camera zoomed in, turning to reveal my face—clear as day, even stained with blood. On the screen, I looked like a demon from the underworld, and worse, I was smiling. How could I have smiled? Why was I smiling at such a moment? And how had this footage surfaced here, now, of all places?

She helped me. As I emerged back into the living room, everyone stopped what they were doing, and turned to look at me with shock evident on their faces. My body was still trembling from the shock of it all, and it was still difficult to believe that I made it out unscathed. Alpha Liam kept staring at me, unable to conceal his shock. He looked as if he had expected himself to be the only one who knew the secret. Aurora looked as pale as a corpse as she watched me. She couldn't believe her eyes.

Damon's usually composed demeanor was shattered, his jaw slack, and his eyes were filled with so much pain, and shock, that I could almost feel it. I could imagine that this bombshell would affect him most, although his brothers looked equally shocked too. Dean's eyes were widened, as if he'd seen a ghost, and Damian wore an expression of incredulity. My mum had her hand covering her mouth and she looked like someone had just pulled the rug from beneath her. Mum recovered first from the shock, as she cleared her throat, breaking the silence in the room. “I don't understand,” she says, her voice trembling, “how could…but why?”.

The disappointment in her golden child’s behavior of casting me aside. Without warning, she slaps me hard across the face and knocks me sideways, shocking me to the core as she’s never once in my life laid any kind of hand on me, and I stumble before crumbling on my legs and falling. Not expecting this at all. Yoonah gasps and dives at me, shielding me with his body. The pain shooting through my face is nothing compared to the complete disbelief and white blank pause of having her hurt me physically. I gasp and stare up at her with wide, shocked eyes, cradling my face, my heart constricting in pain. “Mom?” Yoonah’s as shocked as I am, but she stands towering over me with sudden deadly intent

I gesture vaguely at myself, at the hallway, at the general catastrophic situation of my entire existence— "I don't even know what I am right now." My scalpel, who has been running on adrenaline and spite all morning, picks this exact moment to sit down on the floor and refuse to move.. Same, I tell her, honestly same. "You're in shock." His hand comes up, cups my face, thumb brushing my cheekbone. "Adrenaline crash? It's completely normal."

The world seemed to freeze for a second. And then I saw it. The face in front of me. The serious expression. The cold, calculating gaze… familiar. Shocked, my whole body went rigid. My eyes widened so much they burned. My chest locked, the air wouldn’t come in. My knees gave out even more, and a violent shiver shot down my spine, so intense it made me want to vomit. The pain vanished for a moment. Replaced by something even worse: shock. “N-no…” I stammered, choking on the whisper. “You…?”

But that momentary shock expression on his face quickly shifted from surprise to a wicked grin, as if relishing the challenge I presented. A shadow fell across one side of his face, and to my surprise, he released his hand, pushing the trigger back. The sudden change in his demeanor was unexpected and my body froze with fear. And I felt completely paralyzed as I watched the bullet hurtling toward me at an alarming speed. The shock and helplessness overwhelmed me in that terrifying moment.

He went on to try it on, wanting me to understand the seriousness of the matter. 'Fucking hell! Ray that thing looks like a 100% human face. But it looks so familiar, could I have seen it somewhere before?. ' I was sure I had seen someone with a face like this. Then almost instantenously, I finally connected the dots. 'Oh no Ray, take it off. Oh my god Ray, this is not happening.' My knees gave out, my legs couldn't support my body weight. My hand one again found it's way over my mouth, in an attempt to cover the shock that threatened to cost me my steadiness.
