Then he pulled out his phone and looked at the photo on his lock screen, the picture of Rose and Violet and baby James all smiling at the camera.
Our children.
Our family.
"I want to go home," Adrian said. "To our children, to our life, to everything we've built together."
"And these?" I asked gesturing to the USB drives.
Adrian looked at them for a long moment. "We lock them away, we put them back in this deposit box and we leave them here."
"Forever?" I asked.
"Maybe not forever," Adrian said. "Maybe someday humanity will be ready for this kind of knowledge, maybe someday we'll have the wisdom to use it properly."
