He swings high, bringing his gun over his shoulder before slamming the end of it into her ribs. I cringe as she screams. Gritting my teeth, I swallow hard and look away, peering into the dark room on my left—the children's rooms. Bright eyes glisten back as they quietly watch. A young girl, about six or seven, sits up in her bed, her eyes completely fixated on my gown. I bet I look like the princesses in the books they read to the children. When I was their age, I looked forward to story time, to the reprieve from reality it gave me. Now, I find it cruel. All those books have a happy ending. The two of us had lost all hope of ever finding a happy ending such a long time ago. When we agreed to be the Witch Queen's mate some of that hope returned, as we had both thought that maybe if we put in an effort this time, we could actually be happy. I wasn't so sure about that anymore though, but he disagreed. He still believes that we can help her, or more that we were chosen to help her through this dark period in her life. Unfortunately we can't do anything if she won't let us though, which is what I have to keep reminding him. Regardless, she was our problem now, so we just had to figure out a way to live with her.

For Elise who's unemployed in her last life, she feels ashamed, these children age seven to fifteen starting to work to learn how to feed themselves. This is also the reason why she hated this novel. All the struggle , hope and tenacity of the children have built will just be in vain once the tragedy happened. It's disgusting to think that they were just side characters for the protagonist to be known. Elise who thought that sacrifices are important for every character development is exhausting to one's pov.

AND WHY THE HELL I AM GOING TO PANIC? “The morning here looks incredible Joeff, it is awesome.” The sense of being content. She is the best example for that word. I concentrated on the mundane, the familiar weight of leather, the faint hum of the air conditioning to anchor myself. He slammed my face on the wall, I grunted again, his hands on my bra as he unhooked it. “L---leave me…l---let me go please.” I begged talking to the wall, my eyes blinking to remove the water from it but it only got collected around the eyelids, even more. I thought I was safe, I was not, I never was. It’s hell all around, foes and friends none matter when all they do is stab in the back. I'm losing hope in humanity, I'm losing hope in life and the only hope I have left is the hope to die.
