“It's time to wake up, sweetie...” The sun was beginning to rise, but the light didn't bring comfort. It only clarified the nightmare. I looked at the eye again. The pupil didn't dilate or contract. It remained a fixed, black pinprick in a sea of terrifying blue. As my eyes adjusted, I realized the skin around the eye didn't look like skin at all. It looked like wet parchment stretched too tightly over a frame that didn't quite fit. I remembered the "rules" people joked about in horror movies. Don't go outside. Don't answer the door. But what do you do when the monster is already in the hallway, wearing your father’s throat like a stolen garment?

“Begging won’t help. When we get back to the real world, I’ll beat you to death!” In the horror game, players couldn’t attack other players, or they would suffer backlash. But in the real world, there were no such rules. “Just right, I’m hungry. I’ll try the burrito you made.” Jack grabbed the deluxe burrito and stuffed it into his mouth. But he suddenly bit into something foreign. He spat it out and found a severed finger. Terrified, he immediately threw the burrito away and slapped me several times. “Damn it, who told you to put something like this inside?”

I steeled myself and opened the door. The hallway was awash in red. Smears and spatters of bright and dark blood covered the walls, the floor, and my door. My head reeled. What the hell happened? Why was there so much blood outside my door? Hadn't the guy in 603 seen it through his peephole? I couldn't help looking toward apartment 603. To my surprise, the door stood half-open, and it was dead quiet inside. I picked my way past the bloodstains and made my way to apartment 603.

This was the perfect way to spend an evening with my two best friends. The room was adorned with dimmed lights, creating an atmosphere that was both cozy and eerie. We had chosen a selection of classic horror movies, knowing well that the screams and jumps would only add to the thrill of the night. I stated flashing him a grin like I wasn't worried about his hand wrapped around my throat.
