"Something on mystical creatures forged with witchcraft," she said between bites. "I’m hoping it might help us identify the giant serpent, but so far, there’s no mention of it." I chewed slowly, my gaze falling to the intricate cover of the book. "Nothing about a snake that kills everything in its path?" "Not yet. Just banshees, shadow beasts, some hybrid ghouls, and this weird chapter about moon-cursed wolves." I raised an eyebrow. "Sounds delightful."

Not just words spilling out this time. Scenes. Creatures. Hazards. One thick volume labeled CASTLE HAZARDS struck a stone, flipped open, and vomited a swarm of translucent, wailing shapes—castle ghosts, their eyes hollow, fingers like icicles. They shrieked and arrowed toward us in a ragged storm. Another book, NEON DRONE PATTERNS, burst against a fallen shelf. Drones extruded from the pages like wasps from a nest, metal bodies shining, eyes already lighting up with target locks.

But would they help me protect Orion and seek revenge? I roamed around the library, picking out books from several different sections. A hefty stack was piled in one arm by the time I’d finished—for now—and I narrowed my selection down to three. No pleasure reading this time, I was on a mission. One was a text on abnormal supernatural biology. Another covered the mythology of chimeras, strange creatures featuring numerous animal and human parts. The last was a history of dark witches. After stashing the remaining books on a side table, I climbed back up to the third floor and eased into the hall. The corridor was empty and quiet except for… Was that music?

"Nah! No third option, Riri," Beatrix gulped. The title of the second book was 'The troublesome flowers'. It may seem like an interesting book about beautiful ladies and romance but really it's not. It was a horror story. Half a page of this book that she glanced at last year made her have sleepless nights. This book served the purpose of building the heart's strength and courage. A wizard or witch from time to time would go on missions. None of them was a stroll in the park. If one was not valiant, he/she wouldn't be able to do so. But she was still a babe. How can he read this sort of book to her? Is he truly her brother?

Could it be we landed ourselves right amid werewolves? Frantic, I rush and grab as many books as I can. I sit in the corner and just with the first chapter of the first book I open, my fears are proven to be correct!

She felt an instant connection to her grandmother as she went through each book, feeling each one, running her hands along the spine, feeling the binding, the old paper. She began to relax, as her nightmares became more distant.
