Edward's mother hup up like a frog, and the next minute she was standing in front of the maid. Right before my own eyes…..her short nails suddenly became long. Her eyes were red like pure blood…. And she suddenly has two long elongated canines. She grabs the maid's head and bends it to the side….. before biting her neck. Blood spills out of the maid's neck, and touches my face. Mrs. Esther killed a living human in front of me….. and she started eating the woman's neck until it was about to fall out from her head. "Arrrghhh!". I screamed while using my hand to cover my face.

The room tilted. Voices became muffled. The ceiling spun above her. The last thing she saw was Peter standing there. Watching with his arms folded across his chest. Then darkness swallowed everything. “No!” Esther gasped and leaped to her feet. Her lungs filled with desperate breaths of air. Her throat was scratched by each breath. She believed her heart may burst through her ribs because it banged so hard. Sweat-dampened, her nightgown stuck to her skin. She put a shaking palm to her chest because her heart was beating so hard that she was terrified it would explode.

She gently patted Hansen on the back of his head. Hansen's eyes, sinister and proud one moment before, became dull the next. Esther chuckled and said, "I won't kill you. I just want to turn you into a fool. You can go now." Hansen walked away with dull eyes and a zombie-like walking posture. Sonya stood back and watched, but she could not figure out what had happened. However, Chad frowned. He inquired solemnly when Esther returned to the shop. "Aunty, you were not like this before."

He called up to her. “Please, don’t hurt me.” She called down to him, her fear evident. Next to Kate, she felt Izzy shiver in fear, sharing the apprehension of the girl, Esther. Esther was young, likely no older than the sisters. It was most likely her first, and apparently her last, hunt as well.

It was here that the Mother of Demons conducted her most secret and sacred rituals, and it was here that Esteria's fate would be decided. El-Kharis gently laid Esteria on a bed that seemed to glow with a soft, otherworldly light. Her skin was pale, almost translucent, and her breathing was shallow. He could see the strain on her face, the silent battle she was waging within her own mind. It tore at him to see her like this, so vulnerable and yet so strong in her defiance.

Her eyes rolled back in her head, and she slammed her fist against the glass, not to escape, but to warn me. She wasn't pointing at the creature. She was pointing at me. I followed her frantic gesture, looking at the window again. I looked at the glass, but I didn't see her reflection. I saw mine. But the reflection wasn't mine. It was the face of the portrait. The room began to shake. The walls of the Master Suite groaned, the wood warping and twisting like agonized flesh. I realized then that the dare wasn't a game. It was a harvest. The Blackwood Estate didn't just haunt people; it cycled them.

Under the blazing sun, the party walked for an entire half hour before arriving at the village square. "Is this a stone altar?" "Aren't altars par for the course when it comes to myths about the sea? What's there to be surprised about?" The party discussed amongst themselves carefully, before Afro exclaimed, "Wait, that altar isn't made of stones, it's made of human skulls! Wasn't this supposed to just be an A-ranked dungeon? How did so many people die here?" At the center of the square stood a massive watchtower built entirely from human bones.

I growled. “Yeah. And we’re going to help.” Dad said. “We all are.” Lucas said. “I thought you didn’t want any part of it.” I said. “I didn’t. Until I realized what they were capable of. And before they tried to kill me as well.” Lucas said. “What are Ethan and Esther going to do? They don’t have a house. Their son is dead.” I said. “I don’t know. I offered for them to come to our place. I’ve already got our warriors sweeping every building for bombs. Once we get the all clear then we will go home and regroup. Try and find out what the hell these blood suckers are up to.” Dad said.

It's just an illusion. I blinked, but the scene in front of me didn't disappear. It was real, but I realized what he meant. His words gave me a little strength to believe in myself. Esther is a manipulator, a witch, and a vampire. She is the perfect combination of all the features of a perfect villain. She doesn't have to force people to do what she wants.

Felix inquired. Esther affectionately swiped Felix's nose and replied, "No, Mommy's very happy!" Curiously, Felix asked in his innocent voice, "Then why are you happy?" Esther gazed at Felix's face with gentle eyes, a slight smile forming on her lips. She whispered, "That's a secret." Starting the car, Esther left the underground parking lot. However, her destination this time was not Felix's elementary school but the cemetery. "Mommy..." After Felix got out of the car, he surveyed the unfamiliar surroundings, holding Esther's hand with a mix of anxiety and hesitation. He asked, "Mommy, are we lost?"
