Hendrix POV After that weirdo's silly bedtime story about end-of-the-world cults or something, I could tell Anna's resolve was breaking down. Those weird creatures and their horrifying objects were like living nightmares come true. They had twisted bodies and soulless eyes that looked right into your mind with cold malice. Their rude and inappropriate presence made me lose even my normal confidence. But giving in to fear was the first thing that led to loss. And there was no way in hell I was going to be added to Scar's crazy plan to kill people from our family tree.

I don't even have his number! "Hello? Who's there?" I whispered. It was like a horror movie. The girl in the forest screaming and running for her dear life. Maybe it is Jordan. He is a douchebag but can he pull such a stunt just to scare me? One thing I learned from the horror movies I watch is never to scream and run so I backed away and tried to be in the shade because the moon was up and bright. I said eagerly as both of us crawled into bed, throwing the covers over us. “Are you ready?" I asked as soon as we laid down. "Yes. "The title of my story is 'Princess Aimee and the Monsters'," I announced. Instantly, the look of delight on her face disappeared, replaced by a look of terror. I couldn't help but laugh as she asked why it had such a frightening title.

They were self-explanatory, and she would be able to tell which part of the book was most promising. She flipped through until she reached the back of the book with the cautionary tales. She skipped over the first one about Lysander, and the next few didn't seem promising either. Story after story passed by, and she was about to give up and read it closely for hints . . . until the very last section. Her fingers froze, her breath caught in her chest, and horror coursed through her veins as she read the title of the section: 'Blood Magic and the Creation of the Vampire-Human Child'

The next second, the Patchwork Monster tore the man in half. He tossed the body outside casually. Just then, a crisp, bell-like voice sounded outside. “It’s after work hours, who’s so rude as to be throwing bodies around?” A young girl with three heads and eight arms appeared at the doorway. With just one look at the shop, anger filled her voice, and her hair stood on end. “Who the hell had a death wish and smashed the Number One Must-Eat shop in the entire horror game?”

She stood back-to-back with Julian. Her doctor’s clothes were ripped. Her hair was tangled and wild. A deep ache settled in her chest. Every time one of those monsters touched the page, Maya felt her memories tremble. These things weren’t just monsters. He kicked a shadow-creature away. His face twisted in pain when hot black ink scorched his spirit-leg.
