Topher let out a groan of pain as Logan held him. A line of blood slowly emerged on his face, stretching from his forehead to his chin. At first, it was just a trickle, but soon fresh, black blood surged out uncontrollably. Topher's eyes widened as he stared blankly at the old lady. He couldn't believe her immense power, even in his final moments of life. His neck stiffened, and his last breath left his body.

Jai blinked his eyes owlishly, "How do you not wear shoes? What if there's a spiky thing on the ground and your feet came down to it by accident?"
