Seeing Blood
It was not a pleasant kind of laughter.
I narrowed my eyes and asked, "Is that funny to you?"
"Funny? Of course, it's funny. How could it not be?"
His face twitched slightly, and his gaze bore into me as he spoke slowly. Each word was deliberate and clear.
"You're not worth that amount, and I wouldn't pay it either."
For some reason, a chill ran through my body at that moment, as though I had been cornered by a venomous snake.
His eyes pinned me down, unwavering. Then, he said, "You're worth far more than that. What you can have is endless wealth.
