"Do you remember the night we went out to the carnival?" "Yes, like a rerun," "Well," I exhaled, walking across the room away from her. "I looked sick, but I wasn't really sick. It was something called Awakening. It's a transition like when we are going through puberty or something." "What do you mean?" Cammie started asking in a fretful tone. "Cam," I said slowly. "I'm not a human." "I beg your pardon?" her face lighted in alarm. "I mean... I am," I added, "but not a hundred percent human."

“Care to know where you are going?” I hadn’t spoken so how did he know I was awake? Again, I choose to keep my mouth shut, it was better for him to think that I was out of it. Alwin suddenly drops me to the ground. My neck cracked as I hit the floor head first sending a stabbing pain through my spine. My body sprawls forward as I land on my stomach with a dull thud. I try to keep my eyes wide and blink a lot to make him think that I was in a state of confusion when he suddenly kicks me in the ribs, knocking the air out of me.

Olivia’s breath caught. Her vision blurred. Her knees buckled, And right before she hit the floor, A second heartbeat pulsed inside her. Then a third. Then a fourth. Her stomach tightened painfully as the air exploded with energy. The last thing she heard was the unified whisper of countless souls, “The vessel awakens.” The unborn child pulses with multiple heartbeats, each one belonging to a different Bloodbound soul waiting to be reborn…

The Awakening Power The moon illuminated the sky as Lyra found herself solitary in the clearing, the cold air pressing against her. Her breaths came rapidly and shallowly, each exhale visible in the frigid night. A fresh wave of strength coursed through her, a sensation she struggled to describe. It felt as if every part of her was coming alive, as though her true self had been asleep for ages and was now finally awakening.

"Oh, my God! That almost doomed the next generation!" "Those two are criminals to the base!" "Throw them out! They even tried to steal Faith’s credit!" Just as General Thomas was about to order their removal, a piercing alarm suddenly erupted from the medical wing. At the same time, a blinding white light shot into the sky, overwhelming even the lightning glow Commander Morris had just subdued. "What’s going on? Another awakening?" General Thomas’s expression changed drastically. I snapped my head up, locking onto that beam of light. "This is bad. It’s a spatial mutation awakening!"

Alternating pov: Dawn had barely touched the horizon when the pain woke me—sharp, rolling, electric. My whole body trembled, skin too tight, bones burning. I gasped and clutched the blankets, trying not to scream. The door flew open. “Sera.” Kade was already at my side, dropping to his knees. He must have been waiting. Watching. Ready. “It’s starting,” I breathed, voice shaking. “I know, baby. I’ve got you.” He swept me into his arms, holding me like I weighed nothing.

"Awakening to what?" "To what you are‌," Kieran said gently. "You have Luna bloodline, Sera. Supernatural DNA. But‌ it's been dormant your whole life. Hidden. Waiting." "Waiting for what?" ‍ "‌For the mate bond," Daxen said. "For us. Physical intimacy with your mates triggers th‌e awakening. Activates what's been sleeping ins‍ide you since‌ you were born."

Strange blood. None of it made sense. I laid back on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. All I wanted was to focus on my baby, on surviving. I didn’t need more mysteries or new reasons for people to whisper about me. “Get some rest,” Aiden murmured. “I’ll be right outside.” He turned to leave, but then paused at the door. His voice was low, thoughtful. “Selena… did you know your strength levels don’t match those of a beta or omega?”

Unclear images of figures, ancient symbols, and other things that she couldn't place her hands on. "What are you doing?" Mia gasped, struggling against the hold, but the woman's grip was surprisingly too strong for her age. "I am awakening what has been suppressed," the woman replied, her voice now deeper and more commanding than before. "Preparing you for what is to come. For the choice you must make." Her eyes now seemed to glow with an inner light. "The true mate bond... is not what you believe it to be. There are more layers to what you already know, child. Secrets..."
