I’ve been gifted very little in life so whenever I was fortunate to get a gift which came very rarely either from my ex friends or from Simon even the thought of him feels me with rage, and disgust but regardless those moments I treasured everything. I sighed inwardly and remembered the gift upstairs that I'd bought him during the shopping trip with Lory. "Give me a minute. I have something for you." I went up, picked it up from Lory's room while she was in the bathroom, and came back down to hand it to him. It was a book on how to deal with grief. I'd found it in the bookshop at the mall, wandering around while Lory was off getting the fashion ring she bought adjusted. He turned it over in his hands. A small smile tugged at his mouth. "Thank you."

No one put a price limit on the game and we were not to put our name on the outside of the gift. I thought long and hard about what I could give that would mean something to the person who got it and wouldn't break my small bank. In the end I made a gift certificate on my computer and put it in a shoe box, put a marble inside so it would make noise if someone shook it, wrapped the box in green paper and took it to the party. The gift certificate was for two days of companionship. For two days of the person's choosing, I would be with them. Go for a walk? If that's what you want, you've got it. Sit on the porch and watch the grass grow? I'm there. Whatever.

Each gift includes a personalized note from him saying things like ‘sorry I’m not with you right now’, ‘I cherish every moment we share’, ‘You make me happy,’ and even one that says, ‘Don’t worry I’ll tip the delivery guy because I know you traumatized him. I smile and laugh at each one, however, what actually brings a gasp from me is the collection of new books from my favorite author that haven’t been officially published yet, personally gifting the first edition of the books to me as well as a note telling me I’d become a renowned chef, but I also had the potential to become a greater writer than she could ever be.

Three months later, I saw Gavin again. I'd set up a meeting with a top chip supplier at The Grand Royale, a private club dripping in quiet money. As I stepped into the lobby, something caught my eye. Time for me to give my gift to Austin. I didn’t know what to get him. He has everything already. I wanted to give him something from my heart. When I was in the library, I composed a song for him. I think now is the perfect time to debut it for him, in front of our pack. “Austin, this gift is perfect and exactly what I need, in order to give you, your gift.” I announced.

Aaron loved it and wore it immediately, he thanked me with a knees wobbling kiss. For Peyton I gave her new glasses and a brand new signed copy of Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen. I've heard her grumbling about how she had not gotten an original copy of the book. This once belonged to my father and it was sighed by another best selling author. Since I'm not one for books, I gave to her and she loved it. For My mom, I gave her a new cook book with different cuisines from different cultures. And for Jesse I gave him new shoes, good shoes take people to good places. I wish the best for my Chimpanzee. Surprisingly he loved it too.
