strange. “It's a game I've played before, when I faced the people who threatened us, I saw them as simple pieces that should be discarded to achieve the objective of survival. Life for me has always been a trophy for survival.”, he takes a deep breath and adds, “there have been moments in my life when I have had to spill the blood of others to avoid shedding my own tears...”, he swallows dryly. Eleonora never made it clear how many people had to die to protect herself and her sister.

《SECOND CHANCE PROTOCOL ACTIVATED》 Survive the Trial. Find the True Lifeline. Failure = permanent erasure. My heart thudded so hard it hurt. “Who… who are you?” The voice continued calmly. 《RULES TO JOIN THE SURVIVAL GAMES》 Rule1: The road ahead is endless. Do not leave the truck no matter what. Rule 2: If you see yourself again do not look twice. Rule 3: If the lights go out, pray they come back. If they don’t come after 3 seconds… close your eyes and count to 10.

HELENA By the gods, what had that man led me into? His words echoed in my head. “If you survive the next stretch” he had said. “You will reach places where you stop needing help from strangers.” Did that mean I had to survive whatever was in that damned village? Just what in the gods name was in that village, what did I have to survive by accepting help from this stranger?

The more he struggles, the better reward he thinks he's going to receive. It was already troublesome for him to be stranded in the middle of the world with newbies who didn't know the first thing about fantasy worlds. He has read a variety of novels about it, and he used to fantasize about what his life would be like if he were ever pulled into a parallel world. But the worst thing was that he either didn't get a cheat skill or hasn't discovered it yet. This is the reason why, while everyone worked from early morning on, he only roamed the outskirts of the settlement looking for beasts to fight or treasures to get stronger immediately.

With my ability to live just by absorbing the water particles in the air, I was guaranteed to survive the apocalypse. I boarded up all the windows except for the one near the balcony as a safety precaution. I then picked up the novel I had been reading. It was part of the resources that I had quickly gathered while everyone was busy fighting over the money and mocking me earlier. I had a few novels, card games, and puzzles. Although they seemed to be useless in a plant apocalypse, they were essential in keeping me sane in an isolated environment.

Makes you capable of things you never imagined. I close my eyes. Let Isla work. Trust the crew to get me to Silas. Eighteen hours until Mordaunt's deadline. Eighteen hours to recover enough to make decision. Eighteen hours to figure out if tonight's victory bought us freedom or just postponed slavery. The pain fades. Drugs working. Healing starting. I survived the death match. Killed Gregor. Won five thousand pounds. Now I just need to survive my injuries. Survive the assassins arriving tonight. Survive Mordaunt's deadline tomorrow. One impossible thing at a time. That's all survival ever is.

How am I going to get home? “Fat bitch, do you not hear me talking to you.” I don’t respond as I wonder how the hell I’m going to get out of this book. I’ve read several novels like this, but the main character almost always dies in their world. Dread fills me; did I die in my sleep? I didn’t even get to read the last Game of Thrones novel; how could I have died? I’m young and healthy, yeah I’m relatively thick, but a little fat never hurt anyone.

Knew how Mena’s eyes always followed me like she was waiting for me to make one mistake. And when I didn’t…..when I continued to exist in her world without crumbling, maybe that was a mistake enough for her. Opening my eyes slowly, heart pounding in my chest. Mali’s hands had tried to break my body. But someone else had tried to end it completely. And whoever it was… they weren’t done. Because I survived. And surviving might have just made me their worst enemy.

I wait for the screen to light up, but it remains dark. Ugh. I turn on my side, tucking my arm under my head. How much longer do I have to survive?
