The Dress Was Never the Problem
The door to the fire exit had been tightly locked, and the floor was slick with fuel.
"You're finally back." Natalie laughed wildly. "You think you can turn things around with that copyright? Keep dreaming. If I can't have it, neither can you. Today, everything burns. You, me, and your precious manuscript."
I turned and ran back into the hallway, grabbed the fire extinguisher off the wall, and smashed the glass door to the room.
Shards flew everywhere.
Pulling the pin, I gripped the nozzle and pressed the handle hard, aiming straight at Natalie's face. A burst of dry powder shot out instantly.
