Nala licks her dry lips and breathes deeply as she knows the scent is fading slowly. Nala pulls out her conversation when she finds out Raymond doesn't like it. "I was wondering, did you come indeed to look after me?" Raymond shifts his body to face Nala. Stare right into Nala's bead without blinking. "That's right, Nala. You have me. Although this is a consequence of Ray having half-human blood. But Ray's happy because it's Nala," he said. Ray groped his chest, then continued. Clay nodded at my phone. “Hold your horses.” I rolled my eyes, pulling up the list. “Okay, the others in the cartoon movie were Slightly, Nibs, Chubby, and Twins.” I frowned, not liking any of those. “Ah, here we go. In Hook, there was also Ace. But that’s a no go since that’s my brother. Thud Butt is also a no. We aren’t insulting the puppies.” I shook my head. “Pockets could be cute. Don’t Ask, Too Small, Latchboy, and No Nap were the others. I don’t like those names.” I wrinkled my nose.

Trying not to dwell, he ventured, "So, apart from the shifting and the hierarchy, are we just normal humans?" Carla's eyes sparkled with amusement as she continued the exchange. "Ah, back to the basics, I see." She smiled, her demeanor a blend of warmth and mischief. "The answer is both yes and no. Our basic human composition aligns with regular humans, but our senses are heightened, both in human and animal form." Leaning in conspiratorially, Carla elaborated, "In human form, you can often distinguish ranks by sheer size – Alphas being on the larger side, like they're on steroids. I'm sure you noticed." A fleeting memory of the imposing Alpha bear crossed John's mind.

Jack walked up to his desk and immediately turned on his computer. After entering his password and fingerprint, the computer did not start up as usual, but instead went black. He furrowed his brows, feeling a sense of foreboding. Just as he was about to shut down and restart the computer, several animated characters suddenly appeared on the screen. Richard sometimes watched cartoons, and Jack had seen them occasionally when he visited his old home. He recognized the characters as Peppa Pig and her family.

I ask childishly after closing my second book of the day. I look over at his spot to see him carving yet another bear. I can't help but grin at the scowl he is giving the helpless wood. Carving typically brings him peace of mind. I guess me refusing to eat Peter cottontail was just too much for my even-tempered roommate. I can't believe I once upon a time thought Thatcher was boring. He makes me laugh so much. Living with him is so easy. His personality makes me love being around him. He is unlike anyone I have ever met. He is my best friend.
