She motioned toward the pile of books spread out like an academic buffet. I was stepping into her arena now, a place where she was the commanding presence. I let out a dubious hum but leaned over the desk, pretending to scrutinize the titles she had laid out. "Hmm, ‘The Lycanthropic Lore of the Last Century’ – sounds like a real page-turner." Her laugh, a sound I'd found myself increasingly eager to draw forth, rang in the quiet room. "Perhaps not for those who live the lore," she responded, her pen poised above the catalog card.

“Can you not read the title?” I looked at the cover of the book. But I knew that was not the title for I could see the make-shift cover, hiding it. I did that too. “Yes, but I am asking about the real title.” “You have good eyes.” She took off the make shift cover, and now I could read the real name of the book. It was “One Hundred Ways To Kill A Liar.” And I was lying to her. “It is a forbidden book, so don’t tell.” What she said was more of a command or a warning.

Her cousin’s laughter abruptly ceased, replaced by a silence that was heavy and disconcerting. Casey arched an eyebrow but did not look back. Her focus was caught by a peculiar title on the top shelf. Standing on her good foot, she stretched her arm out, grimacing slightly at the pull in her side. “What is this?” she murmured, pulling the book down. She studied the cover with a raised brow. ‘One Hundred and One Ways to Get Your Dream Man.’ What is this? She turned the book over, skipping through the pages to see the content inside. She was about to tease Zazu about it when she noticed her cousin sitting quietly, her gaze distant. Something was wrong.

Damn, Freckles. The first book I pulled out was called “Images You Should Not Masturbate To”. I snorted, flipping through a couple of pages and shaking my head. That sarcastic streak of hers ran deep. I grabbed another, the title catching my eye: “How to Traumatize Your Children: 7 Proven Methods to Help You Screw Up Your Kids Deliberately and with Skill.” I let out a short laugh, one that came from somewhere I’d almost forgotten existed. Then there were the others—Fancy Coffins to Make Yourself, Do-It-Yourself Coffins for Pets and People, and, for good measure, How to Raise Your IQ by Eating Gifted Children. I shook my head, glancing back at her still sleeping form.

I asked, "So, Miss. How is it going with the Dark humour guy? Any update so far?" "HA! Dark humour! He's the funniest guy, I've ever met. Didn't you hear that line of him? I mean he called himself motherfucker; oh my, that's the kind of humour I love. Every time he cracks a joke, it makes me head over heels for him. And not forget his awkwardness around girls" the sarcasm was dripping from her mouth. But that changed my mood. And we both started chuckling, "He's not that bad!" I exclaimed. Right? He's not that bad.

Successfully deceiving him was my only way of seeing my pup again soon. I gave him what was supposed to be a coy smile, and since he smiled in return, it must have worked. Why did the Queen of Hell not write a book called Flirting for Dummies as the sequel of her bestselling work, Mates for Dummies? It would really help. Maybe the third book could be Revenge for Dummies. That would surely sell a lot in Hell.

There was no author, no publisher's mark, only a title embossed in ostentatious, looping cursive: A LIGHT THAT CHANGES FATE. "Seriously?" he muttered. It was a cringe-worthy title, the kind found on the bottom shelf of a bargain bookstore. Yet, it had snagged his curiosity. He cracked the cover, and a flush of heat crept up his neck. The first page was… vulgar. Profanity-laced and graphically crude. He nearly slammed it shut. What was a book like this doing in his mother's collection?

I mutter, looking at my foot, which was hit by some sort of book. I lift my foot and give it a light massage with my hands before picking up the book. As I read its title, "FAREWELL TO HUMANITY," I remember the events: mountain, rock, handsome man, fainting, handsome man, book, handsome man... Yeah, lots of events. I'm not doing well; I barely left home and I've already gotten myself into trouble, cursed mountain. Still lost in recent events, I run my finger over the couple on the book's cover, and for some reason, Deniel's image comes to mind, causing a small (very small) smile to form on my lips. He's so handsome and masculine.

As expected from them things couldn't go over smoothly, even if it comes to something like the title of their book, they ended up at an impasse. "What's that, could that even be considered a title?" Jun said mockingly, "Well at least it's more creative than "Their Murderous Love,", " Iori retorted eying his notebook with disdain. What do you expect from a frivolous romance writer anyway... "Oh! As in "Misconception in the night" Is a more relevant title?" Jun said "Well, at least it doesn't sound like a cheap romance column in a teenager's literary magazine..." Iori said and Jn raised an eyebrow at her.
