We settled on a gloriously ridiculous romantic comedy with far-fetched meet-cutes, wedding hijinks, and the cheesiest slow-motion kiss I’d ever seen. He hums. I continue speaking. “You know, almost the same thing happens in every romantic movie. Still, it’s just so…perfect. The whole meetcute, love at first sight, enemies to lovers, fake relationships. All those cliche troupes are the best. She asked in disgust, he had the most contagious laugh and even though it was clear that he was mocking her, his rich laughter was like music to her ears, she felt ashamed of her reasoning, if only he wasn’t so good-looking and attractive, if he had just been one of those potbelly assholes that frequented the tubs in her area then she would definitely not be attracted to his everything this much, it was annoying and embarrassing the way everything about him seems to scream perfection when it should not. “Stop laughing, I don’t see what’s funny,” She fired at him. “You are funny Arielle, I admit, it is fun talking to you even though you are a pain in the ass,” He responded amidst laughter. “B

He may say he did not have a romantic side, but these little slivers of him that came through showed me there was a romantic guy inside, he may just not realize it yet. It was really quite endearing, especially when it was combined with his sense of humor and his character. It truly made me smile.

It wasn’t long before we were laughing at the ridiculous scenes, making side comments, and throwing popcorn at the TV like immature teenagers. It felt good. Normal. For once, the drama with Ace, the pregnancy, the weird tension with Noah, it all faded into the background.
