I slammed my mind walls shut, he clearly needed time to chill, and I needed the space to breathe. This was the torment I had been dealing with ever since I met Adeline in my literature class a week ago. Dax had been making my life a living hell with his relentless demands to mate and mark her. Heck, I couldn't even remember how many times he had forced me to run to her window under the cover of night, just to be close enough to inhale that intoxicating scent of hers. It was the only thing keeping him sane, that, and a brutal spar with some of the pack warriors.

My father slammed his fist into the wall, and blood instantly seeped from his knuckles. "You're lying! Adeline just had a fever. How could she die from that? Did she pay you to lie to us?" The healer's expression darkened. "Sir, please be mindful of your words. Adeline's condition was known throughout the entire hospital. If you don't believe me, you can ask anyone here. This wasn't just a simple fever. Her wolf died days ago. Frankly, it was already a miracle she lasted this long."

I watched for a moment before walking toward my door. As I was shutting it, I heard Elena whisper, “Go get your man, Auntie.” I shook my head. That girl was a disaster walking, and I absolutely adored the organized chaos that was Elena. I quietly crept down the stairs before slipping out the back door and into the forest. I stopped beneath his tree, looking up, scanning the tree for him but not finding him. “I know you’re here, ‘Sprey. Adele said and walked out of that room. "What does she mean by that?" Betty was shocked to hear that and she ran after her daughter. She held Adele's arm and questioned her, "Where is Ana? What did you do to her?" "I didn't do anything to her. She gave away her body to a hunter in exchange for that medicine used on the injured wolves." Adele said while wailing uncontrollably. "How could you let her do that? Why did you not stop her? Didn't you say that you have learned the way to control her hunter powers?" Betty asked her while holding her shoulders and shaking them continuously.
