He went home. Aayan told his Dad everything. Yash kept silent for some time, then brought a book. He gave it to Aayan. Aayan "This book?" Yash: "This book is about werewolves. I have read a few pages. Someone kept it outside our house." Aayan looked at the book. The book's cover had a picture of a werewolf. The book looked ancient. Yash, "I don't know who kept it. I don't know how many werewolves are here. I don't know whether this book was given by a friend or an enemy. But I feel you should read it once."

But it sputters awake, as exhausted and stubborn as the rest of us. The letter peeks out of my bag like a secret. Every few minutes, I glance at it, wondering if it will disappear or catch fire or morph into a joke. But it stays. There’s something strange about the name Hucow Hollow. It has a soft, old-world roundness to it, like something whispered in the back of a fairy tale book. Not the safe ones—the weird ones. The ones with red shoes that dance you to death and witches with sugar houses and rules you can’t break.

Taking a small breath I slowly tear the piece from the book. It comes off easily as if it was meant to whilst uncovering a small picture of four baby wild hares sleeping in a basket. There weren't merely four hares but eight.
