I approached one shelf and found a journal labelled: Hydros: The Lost Line of Water Sorcerers. I pulled it out. The moment I opened the first page, the water symbol glowed faintly. Inside, it read: Some high-level water sorcerers can manipulate memory and time through mist. My chest turned to ice. Logic snapped instantly to Morpheus—and to the bizarre things I had experienced since my second chance at life. “Lulu.” Caspian’s voice sliced through the silence, freezing me. The book almost slipped from my fingers. I lifted my head slowly and there he was—Caspian—standing in the doorway. His whole body tense, jaw clenched, blue eyes burning into mine like a tidal wave ready to crash.

I hissed squirming. “Just watch. The fun is about to begin.” The man tilted my face towards the stage where Alpha Woods now spoke confidently about borders and praising his daughter. “Now I would like to remind everyone of the rules.” Alpha Woods spoke right as an arrow whizzed over everyone's heads. Impaling him in the neck. I watched horror struck. Seeing my Alphas eyes widen in shock. He locked eyes with me opening a mind-link ‘Get Kayla to safety’ I heard his voice fade near the end. A second later his body went slack landing on the floor with a dull thud.

Her voice low and hypnotic washing over him like a pain reliever. "You are going to be okay. Go to sleep!" The voice came again putting him to sleep immediately. --------- Thanatos pulled his hood back over his head. Immediately he stood up from the trunk the whole image turned to vacant space. "You had orders not to send him back!" A voice said coming from a man in the distance behind him. "Since when do father's orders interfere in the will of fate?" He asked turning towards his brother, Hypno the god of sleep. "He was key to opening the gates and securing our freedom!" He boomed.

And now I'm ready for whatever comes next. I turn toward the tunnel exit. Toward the surface. Toward the people waiting. Toward my future. But as I take the first step, something shifts. Deep in the earth. Beneath the vault. Something ancient responding to the bonding. A presence. Massive. Old. Waking. Not the stone. Something else. His shadow was missing, leaving an eerie emptiness at his feet. Dizziness clouded my vision, and as my consciousness wavered, a figure materialized out of the darkness. Hayden, the enigmatic ruler of the mythological Underworld, stood before me. It snorted in reply. Jasper approached Calliope and outstretched an arm at the horse. When he opened it, there were three cubes of sugar in it. He said nothing. Calliope stared back at Jasper as if contemplating whether to trust him or not. In the end, Calliope gave up and started to eat the sugar on his palm. Jasper broke into a peal of triumphant laughter. I didn't want to use this kind of trick for him but I'm too tired of fighting him and I want to end this day for both of us. I once read the prophecy of Apollo about a cambion who killed the hybrid vampire named Damsel in the form of Damon Salvatore. At first for me, it's just a tale but I didn't even think that I was the cambion in that book. I'm not sure about the details but it's said there that, to kill the hybrid Incubus vampire, the cambion who destined to kill him will pull his heart out from his chest. It's all in my mind while he was almost in my face.

"They have, ever since she was born." Cassandra set the little serpent among the piles of gold coins. The creature sagged in defeat and exhaustion after lying before that terrible fire. "There it is," Vasilisa's voice came from behind a mountain of walnut-sized raw rubies. It wasn't hard to find the book. It was placed on a golden stand in between two golden Sirin statues. The grimoire turned out to be the largest book Cassandra had ever seen, with pages made of parchment illuminated with tracery, and it was open to a page thickly covered with elegant, intricate writing.

His lips continued to move and I kept watching until I observed the position of his face turning from slightly sideways to facing me fully. My eyes now look up only to meet his instant gaze. "Did you even hear a thing I said?" He asked. I jerk back quickly. "Huh?" He had been saying something? I had been so caught up in his hypnosis that I didn't even hear him speaking. "What?" "The book, Lucia." I quickly reach for the box between Quinn and I and I pull out the book. While doing so, I see a small round plate between the small space between the book and the end of the box.

Hypnos and Morpheus nod. Hypnos places his hands on Josefina’s temples. Within seconds, her eyes close and her body goes slack—sleep has claimed her. Then Morpheus takes his place. His hands replace Hypnos’, and for several long, tense minutes, nothing happens. And then the sky above us ignites. Even though I know what’s coming, it still hits me like a punch to the chest. Blood is everywhere—splattered on walls, running in rivers down stairs and gutters, pooling in the streets. It even seems to fall from the sky.
