Utterly destroyed. “But I’m standing here anyway. I’m standing in this rain for as long as it takes. I’m making myself a public spectacle. I’m letting the whole world see me fall apart. Because I need you to know that this is real. What I feel for you is real.” I was crying openly now. “Standing in the rain doesn’t prove anything.”
