Sarah asked, sliding one foot and then the other into the pant legs of the sweatpants they had bought. “For all the times you’ve been a pain in my ass.” “Me?” She mocked an offended gasp. “Never.” He let out a deep, rumbly laugh. “Being a pain in my ass is practically a personality trait for you, Sarah.” She slid her arms through the sleeves of the oversized hoodie he’d picked out for her. It was warm enough in the room that she could have easily let him have the hoodie instead, but she didn't say a word. When she turned around, she much preferred the view of him wearing nothing but a pair of low-slung pajama pants, his chest entirely bare.

The next day, Chloe invited me to go wedding dress shopping with her—just not at the boutique I had chosen. I glanced at the address and said nothing. She browsed absentmindedly.
