Siya si Danielle, short for Daniella Marasigan Sandoval. Anak mayaman, kung kayat lahat ng gusto niya ay kanyang nakukuha. Sa katunayan siya ang nag isang anak ni Eduardo Sandovall, ang nagmamay ari ng pagawaan ng mamahaling sasakyan sa bansa. Maganda, mabait at higit sa lahat mapagmahal sa mga taong itinuturing siyang pamilya. Mula sa magagandang bestida ay pinalitan niya ng maluluwang na t-shirts at jeans. Ang laruan niyang manika ay naging barilbarilan at ang pangarap niyang maging model ay naging taga kalikot ng makina ng mga sasakyan. Ang mga activities na kanyang sinasalihan ay para sa mga kalalakihan, kagaya ng karate, taekwando, shooting, motto cross, drag race at kung ano ano pa. Hindi naman iyon sinabi ng kanyang ama bagkus ay sarili niya itong pasya lalo na ng sabihin nito minsan na ayaw niya sa babaeng mahina kung kayat pati ang pagtatago ng emosyon ay praktisado na niya. Ngunit ang lahat ng kanyang effort ay tila hindi nakikita ng kanyang ama, bagkus ay bale wala ang lahat ng ito sa kanya.

Sa araw ng libing ng kaniyang ina, nalaman niyang hindi siya mahal ng kaniyang asawa. Nag-file siya ng divorce at umalis. Pagkalipas ng ilang taon, muli siyang bumalik ngunit hindi na ang dating babae na nakilala ng lahat.

He could not even thread a needle because his hands kept trembling. In the middle of the procedure, this medical fraud removed his mask and wet the end of the surgical thread to force it through. I died in the ICU the next day. The cause was a bacterial infection. As I neared death, I heard the intern whine through tears, "How could I be so careless? If I weren't so clumsy, Dr. Benford would have lived." Victoria gently ruffled his hair. "Don't take it to heart, pumpkin. Everyone knows how risky medical procedures can be. You're just starting out, so don't be so hard on yourself." Because of my wife's efforts, both my mother and I were cremated without any investigation or disciplinary action. You would think that was the end. It wasn't. The next time I opened my eyes, I was back on the day Hugo Spencer first joined our hospital as an intern.

The novel is set in the modern time, its the year 2024 and Callie the protagonist is trying to get into a prestigious art school, she spends a whole day working on her canvas without food, sleep or even water and passes out on the floor, when she wakes up she’s in a familiar but not so familiar attic, same design and outline but the things in it weren’t hers, just as she’s about to completely lose it a boy seemingly two or three years older than her walks in and straight through her. She wakes up on her attic floor covered in paint with a splitting headache, she’s back to normal. She brushes the experience off as a lucid dream but more strange things start happening and Callie realizes that the world she knows is weirder than it seems
