Rum rolled his eyes in his voice. “What if I can’t go through?” I asked some more. “Then you’ll get sawed into half.” I halted, feeling the blood drained from my face, when Rum felt my pause and stopped briefly to look back. One look at my face and his own lit up in amusement. “Can’t you tell that it’s a joke?” “Can’t you tell that it’s not funny?” I glared at him. “I’m shaking here!” The superstar chuckled at me before he moved to trudge back. Arriving in front of me again, he patted the top of my head and smiled gently. “Have I ever put you in danger, cub?”

He raised his eyebrows. “So I don’t know, but I don’t think I’m comfortable,” I started. “With what? What’s wrong?” He had that worried look on his face. “That Michael Oh man, he’s dangerous, something about him doesn’t sit well with me,” I told him. Eric laughed. Oh I’m sorry, I never knew I cracked a joke. I was dead serious and he was laughing. I was worried for his life and he was laughing. I think it was the look on my face that made Eric stop laughing; which was good, because nothing was funny.

Then the men burst out laughing, loud and coarse, the sound bouncing off the trees. “She’s bluffing,” the first one snorted. “Yeah,” the other sneered. “Thinks she can scare us with words.” But I didn’t move. Didn’t flinch. My eyes held theirs, steady as steel. Inside me, something stirred, something old and dangerous, rising like a shadow answering another shadow. Let them laugh. They had no idea what storm they had just stepped into.

"What line of mine do you like?" "Haters hate to see us happy," he echoed and threw a wonderful at me. The wind blew and it made my hair to dance and slap his face. We both laughed at what happened and forgot that we were in the middle of danger.

I hissed. His eyes darkened, something shifted, and he was going to hit me. I braced myself, waiting to feel the pain that would come. He laughed. Head thrown back as if he was sitting in the front row seat of a comedy show. The sound was low, a rumble that oozed with danger, just enough to tell me that I should have stayed quiet. He leaned closer, his breath fanning my face. He smelt divine, the thought sliced through me, a crude thought, brash fast, shouldn’t even be there.

Her laughter echoing after her. The sound of the shower started minutes later. I dragged a hand down my face and exhaled slowly. This woman was dangerous and she was going to be the death of me.
