He remained silent for a while, thinking about what I had said and I knew that he was giving it a thought. "What's the reason?" he asked. "He won't be around. He's traveling with his men and the whole house will be locked up," I lied. The way the lie flowed from my tongue was something I didn't think was possible. It was so believable, even to me. That was the only thing I could say because I knew that he would never believe me if I even gave another excuse. This had to be the most solid one I could even thought of and I knew that I had to hold it close and stand on it, and make him believe that I was telling the truth.

I couldn't bear the thought of more harm caused by my actions. "It was all my fault," I quickly spoke up, my words desperate and filled with regret. But he paid no heed, determined to continue his course of action. "I lied, claiming that you had asked me to leave," I continued, hoping that my confession would make him reconsider. Yet, his resolve remained unshaken, leaving me in a state of helplessness.

I froze for a moment upon hearing her question. I can't tell her, I know she wouldn't accept the money if she will know the exact reason where did I get a half million. "I borrowed to my friends mom." I lied. This isthe first time I lied to her. "Alright I just called to say that, I gotta go now." I added and hung up the call. My conscience can't take it that I lied to my mom. I exited the elevator and walked out from the Iverson Company. I'm blessed that I've got to work in Iverson Company even if I didn't graduate. Good thing I'm smart enough that's why they hired me.

I lied to myself when I said I was going to forget Don Dada. It had to be the biggest lie I have ever told myself or maybe the biggest lie my heart has ever told me. My heart has told me a couple of lies that I have to believe wholeheartedly only for me to be met with disappointment at the end. Like when I told myself I wasn’t weak and that I could escape from Luciano if only I tried hard. And when I told myself I could lead a normal and decent life if Luciano at least would lets me go.

Then I slowed it to half speed, staring at the screen without blinking. And in that fleeting moment, I finally saw it. I finally realized what had felt wrong from the beginning. Marc had lied to me.

I couldn’t tell him about anything that happened. “Are you sure? You sound… sad.” I let out a deep exhale. “No, it’s because I just woke up from my nap. I’m good, but still exhausted,” I lied. “Awwwn, my baby,” Liam cooed softly through the phone. “Did I wake you up? Do you need me to order you anything?” “No, you didn’t wake me up. I was even about to call you before your call came in,” I continued, trying to sound convincing. “And I don’t need you to order me anything, I’ll just grab something from the hotel’s restaurant.”

"They didn't tell you." "No," I lied. "They did not tell me." "That's extremely messed up." I let out a sound that was half laugh and half something else entirely. "Yes. It is."

She padded toward me immediately, nudging my fingers with her nose, tail wagging as if she could sense something was wrong and wanted to fix it. “Did something happen when you left?” Leo asked. His face was so innocent it hurt to look at. He was just a child. I couldn’t tell him the truth—about my life, his life, the weight of everything wrapped around us. “I’m fine, Leo,” I lied. He frowned. “No. That’s lying. You said lying is bad.” I let out a small, shaky laugh. “You’re a kid, Leo. Adults lie sometimes.” He frowned harder. “B-but you don’t look like yourself.”

I started, placing one hand on her shoulder to show temporary comfort. "I'll tell you about something called the almadate. My friend Luke, the tall one you must have seen with me on news, he invented it as a temporary means against the liar gas so when you told me you found out I was bisexual, the only way to protect myself was to lie." I sighed, moving further up the bed, drawing my knees to my chest and leaning my elbow against them. "But that's the same thing as lesbianism." She pointed out, a disapproving look on her face.
