I froze for a moment upon hearing her question. I can't tell her, I know she wouldn't accept the money if she will know the exact reason where did I get a half million. "I borrowed to my friends mom." I lied. This isthe first time I lied to her. "Alright I just called to say that, I gotta go now." I added and hung up the call. My conscience can't take it that I lied to my mom. I exited the elevator and walked out from the Iverson Company. I'm blessed that I've got to work in Iverson Company even if I didn't graduate. Good thing I'm smart enough that's why they hired me.

I lied to myself when I said I was going to forget Don Dada. It had to be the biggest lie I have ever told myself or maybe the biggest lie my heart has ever told me. My heart has told me a couple of lies that I have to believe wholeheartedly only for me to be met with disappointment at the end. Like when I told myself I wasn’t weak and that I could escape from Luciano if only I tried hard. And when I told myself I could lead a normal and decent life if Luciano at least would lets me go.

Then I slowed it to half speed, staring at the screen without blinking. And in that fleeting moment, I finally saw it. I finally realized what had felt wrong from the beginning. Marc had lied to me.

I couldn’t tell him about anything that happened. “Are you sure? You sound… sad.” I let out a deep exhale. “No, it’s because I just woke up from my nap. I’m good, but still exhausted,” I lied. “Awwwn, my baby,” Liam cooed softly through the phone. “Did I wake you up? Do you need me to order you anything?” “No, you didn’t wake me up. I was even about to call you before your call came in,” I continued, trying to sound convincing. “And I don’t need you to order me anything, I’ll just grab something from the hotel’s restaurant.”

Because what the hell had I done? I had lied. Not directly, perhaps, but lies by omission were still lies. I told Sean my parents lived abroad. I told the team I was just some spoiled rich kid with too much free time. I let them believe that. I let him believe that. My throat burned. I wanted to say something, anything. An explanation. An apology. But my mouth refused to cooperate. The news moved on. The segment ended. Some other story replaced it, but I remained frozen, staring long after Dew disappeared from the screen.

"They didn't tell you." "No," I lied. "They did not tell me." "That's extremely messed up." I let out a sound that was half laugh and half something else entirely. "Yes. It is."

She padded toward me immediately, nudging my fingers with her nose, tail wagging as if she could sense something was wrong and wanted to fix it. “Did something happen when you left?” Leo asked. His face was so innocent it hurt to look at. He was just a child. I couldn’t tell him the truth—about my life, his life, the weight of everything wrapped around us. “I’m fine, Leo,” I lied. He frowned. “No. That’s lying. You said lying is bad.” I let out a small, shaky laugh. “You’re a kid, Leo. Adults lie sometimes.” He frowned harder. “B-but you don’t look like yourself.”

She rolled her eyes and folded her arms across her chest. "I can explain." I sharply expressed, trying to corner a way for me to be free from the bondage. "Well, go ahead." She tapped her foot against the floor impatiently. "Okay, see… Luke and I had to talk about some important stuff." I began, nervously scratching the back of my head as if it would dispense answers. "What sort of important stuff?" She expanded her frown at me. "I.. I.." I stuttered. My eyes widened after comprehending that I could tell a lie freely. I was insane to trust Luke but I wouldn't know if I didn't try.

I ran upstairs and got what I needed and went to Lia. "Lia... I need to confess something to you." I said and told her how I lied to her and sneaked out of the house for my own benefit and used her key to do it again. I didn't go into details about why I left but I had to confess that I lied to her. But after listening to that her face showed pain and hurt and I was not ready for that...
