When I speak, my voice is barely more than a whisper, hushed and solemn. “I’ll save you,” I murmur. “No matter what it takes.”

My mind was blank as I tried grasping to get words. “I'm fine.” I finally let out, trying to lift off the daze. Perfectly fine.
