“Great, you two make a beautiful couple.” “Thank you,” I reply as I scan the tiny office with two chairs. Down at the other end are two white doors on the other side of the room, which I assume is where the hitching happens. And that’s when it sinks in; I’m getting married. My stomach is in knots. Was it like this the first time? No, I was nineteen when I married my first husband. We were young and had little, but I was so in love I couldn’t wait to marry him. I glance at Charles. My wife. I went to the kitchen to make us both some breakfast, and I couldn’t stop smiling as I started cooking up some toast and eggs for the two of us. I really did do it backward, huh? I married a woman, slept with her, and then fell in love with her. It was a complete mess, but it was a complete mess that seemed to have wound up in me actually falling in love for the first time in my life, and I was more than happy with that.

I said. “Really? But if I’m not wrong, you talked about attending any reunion from your high school because of your first love. Don’t you still want to see him? Because you’re married?” Hillary probed. I couldn’t look Hillary in the face. How could I tell her everything was complicated? My first love turned out to be my husband now. “Why? Why are you so deep in thought about it?” she pressed. I sighed and forced a smile as I turned to her. “I’ll think carefully about it tonight. I should drop you guys off at home,” I suggested.

"Shall we go inside?" She gives me a sidelong glance before nodding. "You've come a long way. You'd better keep it that way." She sighs. "Now if only you could choose someone decent..." I ignore her words as I walk inside with her. She's never liked Kass, but that doesn't matter to me. In the end, who I marry is my choice, and I love my Kassandra Thorn more than anything in the world.

I just couldn't fall in love, I hated the fact that I was forced into this, I didn't want anyone to get hurt because of me, but the deed had already been done.

I asked him. “Right. I think you were in high school the first time I laid my eyes on you.” He answered. I nodded. “So? You planned to make me fall head over heels in love with you and then what?” “Trap you in a marriage that you wouldn’t feel the least bit loved. I married you to make you go through the same pain that my mother went through. I planned to trap you in a marriage where your husband doesn’t give a fuck about you but you still wouldn’t be able to leave him.” He said.

I was willing to do anything to be with her. She said, "Caleb has leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant. You're a match. Can you donate your bone marrow to him?" Love clouded my judgment, so I agreed. Rosalie kept her word and married me. I thought she liked me, but she actually just wanted my bone marrow. After we got married, we fought often. “The usual reasons.” He said nothing. But the fork in his hand paused for just a second. Just one. Then continued. “When did you last go?” he said. “Eight months ago,” I said. He looked up then. Just looking. “Eight months,” he said. “Yes.” A silence. “She does not know,” he said carefully. “About the arrangement.” “No,” I said. “She thinks I married a colleague. Someone from the university.
