Violet let out a shaky breath, the performance dropping, her shoulders settling slowly. "Hope it goes well," she muttered.
"About the email," I began.
"Amara opened it, and I thought it was nothing serious," she quickly explained. "Moreover, he's my ex and has nothing to do with you. I'll handle my own shit, I don't want to owe you any more than I already do."
My tongue clicked at the way the words rolled off her lips so evenly. "You don't owe me." I leaned closer. "We're in this together, right?"
