Can you *create* the seal, not become it?” Elara looked up. “We can try.” Rowan nodded. “But we need something more. Something to *anchor* to this world.” Kael offered his blade. Aria unwrapped the ribbon from her wrist, the one Elara had braided years ago.

He wore black ceremonial armor marked with the crescent symbol. The people respected him. Followed him. Yet his expression remained empty. His gaze wandered constantly. Searching. Waiting. Their life becomes the chain. Their will becomes the lock.” “And the heir who gives their life,” Kiel asked. “Do they need to be willing? Or does the blood alone suffice?” Seraphina answered. “The blood opens the way. The willingness seals it. Both must be true.” Kiel nodded slowly. He reached out and took my hand.
