I hate that he confuses me I hate that he can’t say he wants me back I hate that he watched me accept the rejection to lose our bond. I hate that he couldn’t stop me.. I damn hate everything! “No more Avery from me. I swear.” I resisted his pull, needing to know, “Is she still out there?” “Nah,” he reassured. “She picked up her pizza and left already. And then— “I love you,” he said, finally. “God help me, Carmenta. I love you so damn much.”

Something has blinded me such that I can't stand the sight of you” He spat calmly, as though he didn't just indicate that he hated that he still loved me. My eyes bulged in realization, he didn't hate me for betraying and hurting him, he hated himself for not being able to hate me or hurt me in return despite it. He hated himself for loving me, just as I hated myself for hurting him.
