He eventually found the book further down the row and read from it ; he looked beautiful with his entire focus on the pages. I went back to working on my case review, which was due the day after that. I was lost in my writing when I heard him nearing me. I expected to feel the bump of his ass again and was ready to soak in the pleasure, when he stopped near me and talked to me : “Second to last day already. I hope you liked your stay here.” I could hear from his voice that contrary to before, he was no longer with his back turned to me, we were facing the same direction. For some reason I didn’t look and kept my head down to the pages.

It wasn’t until he reached the center of the journal that he realized every word, every ink-stroke, revolved around him. The early records were mundane pack business, but then, his name began to dominate the ink. One entry read: "Today, Harrison took me to the High Seat to meet his grandson. He promised the boy was noble and kind—that our bloodlines would sing together. But Harrison was wrong. Hudson despises my presence. He bared his teeth the moment I arrived and told me to return to the southern dens. He says I am a distraction to his training. He called me a 'cursed pup.' My wolf is grieving today."
