I blinked and looked at him Russell shrugged slightly. “It’s the first thing I noticed.” “Oh. I’ve been busy.” Running businesses alone had that effect. Russell nodded. “I heard.” I frowned. “You heard what?” Russell looked slightly uncomfortable. “Wilson keeps track of you.” That made my chest tighten unexpectedly. “He does?” Russell nodded. “Every article, every business update.” I looked down at the water and smiled faintly. “That’s… creepy.” Russell smirked faintly. “Wilson has always been obsessive.”

Heart slowly touched her chest and was feeling her heartbeat. ‘Maybe I am just nervous.’ Heart thought. She then shook her head and closed her eyes. ‘No, I must run now. I can’t be seen by him. I can’t have sex with him anymore. He is looking for Scarlet Heart, not for me.’ Heart thought as she was separating herself from Scarlet Heart.

But I hope she can see the regret in my eyes. I put my hand over my heart and bowed. "What exactly are you doing?" she asked, her voice steady and emotionless. It's her usual tactic, keeping her thoughts hidden. It's impossible to read her feelings by looking at her eyes or expression, she's a pro at hiding emotions. I can't figure her out, but it's frustrating for me and I'm struggling to hide it. I decide to speak up before his anger escalates any further.

May. POV. When I entered my apartment I quickly closed the door and slid down on the door and say down on the floor with my back touching the door. I touched the left side of chest and felt the plapatitations of my heart. My heart was beating so hard that I could feel that it will come out. I took deep breaths which calmed my heart and I know the reason is the one who just dropped me off. I don't know why I try to act so tough in front of him ,when in reality I want his sole attention on me. I want to hug him so tight that we can stay like that forever.

Even the lilies seem to hold their breath. My spine stays straight. That’s the rule: don’t show your pulse. I keep my hands loose at my sides even though my ring finger aches to tap the signal—two taps, eyes up; three, location; four, break the glass. Not yet. Not while every lens in this room is hunting for a crack in my face. The word safe ricochets in my ribs. She knows. Maybe not what’s in it, but she knows it exists. She said secrets like she’s counted them.

I shut out every unnecessary feeling I may have harbored. He’s a man with a woman already in his heart. Not mine to claim. This is the only way I know to protect myself. To make sure history doesn’t repeat itself.

I knew I couldn’t let them see how much this was affecting me, how much it hurt. I kept my eyes on the floor as I walked toward him, my heart pounding in my chest. I held my breath as I approached him, his glass outstretched. With trembling hands, I poured the wine, my eyes welling up with tears. I dared to raise my gaze, and his eyes were fixed on me, piercing into my soul. He had been watching me the whole time, and I felt exposed, raw, like I had nowhere to hide. I quickly looked away, moving on to the next person, desperate to escape his gaze.

His body quakes, taking notice of mine, pressed against his. “Of course I know what you mean.” I whisper, with my lips moving against the skin on his neck. “But it’s not like people will be able to tell we’re fucking just by seeing us together.” He sighs heavily. “Someone might just see the heart eyes I give you all the time and figure it out.” He says softly “It’s just my heart, I can’t help it. Whenever you’re close to me, it goes crazy and gooey and mushy.”

Subject: I want to meet you in person. Rose’s heart raced. This is it. The chance to save the NGO but as the screen glowed in her hand, another thought chilled her. How can I meet him… if I’m trapped in here?

“What you heard… what you saw… it’s not everything.” His gaze searched my face, skepticism mixed with hope. I wanted to reach out and bridge the distance, but my hands stayed clenched at my sides. “I don’t want to lose you,” I said quietly. “Not like this.” Atlas’s expression softened slightly, but there was still a guarded edge in his eyes. “Then don’t shut me out,” he said. I bit my lip, the weight of my secret pressing down. How could I explain without revealing what I wasn’t ready to share? How could I tell him about the three tiny hearts beating inside me when the distance between us was already so vast?
