His voice is firm, filled with a resolve that eases some of my fear. But a question, a chilling thought, surfaces. "What if they don't strike anytime soon?" I ask, my voice barely above a whisper. "What if they decide to attack in the next ten years? When everyone has forgotten about this? When no one is expecting it?" The thought of living under that perpetual shadow sends a shiver down my spine.

“They’ll see.” She didn’t know how. But one day… they’d see.

Not now, not ever. For the night may be dark, but the dawn was coming. And with it, the promise of redemption.

Someday, hopefully, we'll meet again. ***

Even when forever might only last until tomorrow. We'd stand anyway. Together. No matter what.

But they will be there for each other when that time comes. If only they knew.....

And when that day came? All bets were off.

But when that day comes… I'll be ready for it.
