They’re… I don’t know the word in your language–” “Creepy? Sinister?” Isla says absently, turning back to face me. “Tonight she dreamt about a war, the coming war, I believe. I… I have visions like she does, but hers are never as vivid as mine. Mine are never… I see the truth more clearly, if that makes sense. I see solutions, but Ella struggles with whatever gift she has. From what she’s told me, nothing she sees makes sense, and she only remembers one thing from her visions.”

When she was done, she placed herself in front of the mirror and combed her hair. It came to her mind how Jonah invited her today, that definitely made her day and smiled. However, her feelings changed from happiness to sadness remembering Sean did not agreed to let her go to the party. It was unfair from his part not to even consider letting her go. Suddenly her reflection disappeared from the mirror, and she no longer saw herself. She looked at her hands and she couldn't see them, neither any part of her body. But desperate times… they demand desperate choices. Illusion weaving was a dangerous art, even among our kind. Most had forgotten it even existed. A rare bloodline gift, passed down through the women of my mother’s side. They called it shadow-seeing. Dream-twisting. Mind fogging. To bend thoughts was not to control them. That was the mistake many made. True illusion wasn’t about making someone see a monster. It was about making them question whether the monster had been there all along. I waited until late at night. The pack house was quiet, cloaked in the calm after evening patrols.
