My twin’s eyes widened not in fear but interest.
“Ah… finally. You fight,” she said, voice soft but dripping malice. “Let’s see how far you’ll go.”
I did.
I ripped through her illusions, each step a strike of golden fire. She countered with a dark wave, twisting it into shapes wolves, serpents, shadows of people I loved, trying to make me hesitate.
I froze at the sight of Marcus, bloodied and whispering, “Lila… run…”
“No!” I roared. Energy exploded outward, blasting the illusions to nothing. “I don’t run! Not from you! Not ever!”
