“I guess I’m just scared of messing them up. Of passing on something that causes pain.” Mum’s grip on my shoulder tightens. “You won’t. You already love them, and they’re not even here yet. That matters. That changes everything.” I look down at the book in my hands, picturing the delicate flower that lies between its pages. “I used to think love was simple. That I’d fall hard, and that would be it. But then I met all of them, and it’s not simple at all. It’s terrifying and overwhelming and messy and so beautiful.”

His hands moved over me like he couldn’t get close enough, and the rhythm of rain outside seemed to echo the quiet urgency between us. When I finally pulled back, breathless, I whispered, “You’re impossible, you know that?” Roman smiled, his eyes dark and bright all at once. “You married impossible.” We stayed tangled together on the couch for a long time, the fire crackling low. He traced invisible shapes on my thigh, his voice a husky whisper in the quiet. “You know,” he said, “I used to think love was something you had to earn. Something that came with conditions. But with you… it just exists. Like breathing.”

"I need you to know that. Whatever this is — whatever is happening — I love my husband. That hasn't changed. That is not what this is." "I know," Kayden said. And he said it without bitterness, without the sharp edge of someone hearing something they didn't want to hear. He said it like he had always known it and had made his peace with it years ago. "I know you do." "Then you understand why this is—" "Impossible," he said. "Yeah. I understand that." He was quiet for a second. "That doesn't make it not real, Maya. The impossible part and the real part aren't the same thing. They can both be true."

I promise to choose us, even when the world tries to pull us apart. My chest tightened. “I really thought love was endurance,” I murmured. Mara said quietly, “A lot of people do.” I kept reading. I promise to be patient. To wait. To understand. “That explains so much,” Mara muttered. I smiled faintly. “I thought if I waited long enough, love would eventually meet me where I was.” “And did it?” she asked. I closed the book for a moment. “No,” I said. “It kept asking me to move.”

I paused to read the next page, and Dark asked me to stop. “Love will always require painful sacrifices. I can never let myself be controlled by that. Athena and James will forever be apart, and yet she promised that she’ll wait for him. Isn’t that crap?” Dark asked. “Well, we haven’t finished the book yet. Besides, it’s just the first page,” I said. “Then what do you think? Do you believe their love story can be possible?” he asked, and I nodded. “Do you want me to continue?” “Go on,” he replied.

she answered, steady. “I have an oath,” I said, the words heavy. “Yes,” she replied softly. “So don’t sit there and make this sound like some tragic little song,” I snapped. “I am not,” she said, her voice steady. “I am saying impossible love doesn’t become harmless because you refuse to call it love.” My claws curled against my palm. “There is no love,” I said. The lie tasted bitter. Ismene didn’t challenge it. That was her mercy. Or her cruelty.

Well those are absolute lies. Everyone of us is fit to be loved... No matter our stories, our past or our present... Love is never impossible for anyone, we just have to look closely to find it... What happened was beyond my wildest imagination leaving me with a bittersweet aftertaste and mixed emotions. Now I am able to understand why people thought so much about the act of love. It is the ultimate union between two people. It's not as simple as it sounds. It's not the action but the moments and feelings we share with each other that make it unique! It is the most sacred and intimate moment for a couple. I know I am not the same after this experience. Something changed inside me forcing me to mature and see my life from a different perspective!
