Lucien’s hands landed on one, and he opened it. His expression shifted the moment he saw the handwriting. It was mine.

I let the rainbow colours come again. The Here and Now It's taken way too long to get to Tim's home, back from my trip to the lake. “Hey Alex, nice to have you back. Susan will drop by in a moment to discuss something about the band, but we've got some time right now.” Tim cheerfully greets me at the door. I run past him to the bookcase. And on the way I yell, "Do you still have the book The Time Machine?" "No sorry, I lost it a long time ago. Otherwise I would have already given it to you when you started about time travel.”

I lose track of time as I delve deeper into the secrets hidden within the pages. The hours slip away, as I come to the sudden realization that I have completely lost track of time, engrossed in my research. It dawns on me that I have neglected to nourish myself amidst the sea of knowledge I've been swimming in. Determined to rectify this oversight, I set aside my book and head towards the inviting aroma wafting from the kitchen. There, I find Charlett, my ever-supportive companion, diligently preparing a comforting meal of spaghetti with succulent meatballs.

It was according to the book, if I haven't forgotten. "What time is it?" I asked. "You're asking strange things again, My lady," she answered. I slapped my forehead for being stupid. That's right. There is no clock in this novel. Time wasn't introduced and wasn't created. I don't know why, maybe the author forgot? Most of historical novels have time, actually. But here, nothing. I don't even know what sign they have on whether it's morning, noon, afternoon, or night. At least morning until evening are part of their vocabulary.

I love him, so I will let him be happy, even if it's not with me. Time seems to go slower as the days go by. Seconds turn into minutes, and minutes turn into hours. I cannot tell how many times I've glanced at the clock, and glance back at it hours later after lying in my bed staring at the wall, only to see that five minutes have gone by since I last checked. Time is all that I have now, and it's a painful companion. It constantly reminds me of how much time I'm wasting. Jack and Bertha had me believing that things would be alright, but it was all nothing else but a joke. I shouldn't have trusted them, because they are happy so they don't really know what they're talking about.
