She inhaled deeply. Kael’s voice whispered sharply in her memory, “Flow with it, Alessia. Not against it.” She exhaled slowly. “All right,” she whispered to herself. “Let’s see how wild wind really is.” The wind rune beneath her feet pulsed. A soft breeze drifted across her skin. Then another—stronger. Then the currents twisted. The air lifted her silver hair upward as though testing her. The wind swirled in gentle circles, brushing across her arms and neck like curious hands.

My emotions no longer interrupted the wind, this time it was steady, just as Grandmother told me it would be. As I grew the whirlwind I called on the water. The wind and the water whipped around Kayden, the outer bands hitting even his warriors behind us, causing them to stop fighting and focus on us instead. Within moments a hurricane was brewing inside Haven. Thunder crashed as I rolled in clouds and increased the wind.

The wind grew stronger by the second, making it difficult to continue driving. Liam lifted his gaze and spotted a grand hotel nearby, its towering structure imposing against the darkening sky. The wind was howling, and the sparkler in her hand lit up her gentle profile. In the background, Archie's voice carried a playful tone. "Sienna, make a wish."
