The door unlocks behind him.
Finn freezes.
Owen steps inside, damp from the rain, his backpack hanging from one shoulder. His gaze drops to the table, to the torn pieces, to Finn’s hands still full of paper.
For one second, neither of them speaks.
Then Owen shuts the door slowly. “What is that?”
Finn closes his fist around the remaining pieces. “Nothing.”
Owen’s face hardens. “Do not.”
“Owen—”
“Do not stand there with ripped paper in your hands and tell me it is nothing.”
