The date is the day of my wedding.
"Your sister was quite visible on social media," Isabelle says, "while you were walking down the aisle."
Nobody says anything. There is nothing to say.
She knows.
She sits down in the armchair by the window without being invited, crossing her legs with the ease of someone who has always assumed furniture was provided for her use. Dominic stays standing. So do I. Victor moves to the side of the room, quiet and watchful.
"I could go to the press," she says. "Marriage fraud is quite the story. The Laurent heir, the missing bride, the sister who stepped in. It writes itself, really."
