Then a third. "Company!" Jinx hissed over the comms earpiece she had given us. "Three armored SUVs. Council markings. They must have tracked the truck." "We're blown," I said, panic rising. "We have to abort." "Negative," Jinx said calmly. "Look up." From the clouds above, a dark shape descended. It was a cargo plane, a heavy, four-engine hauler painted matte black with no markings. It banked sharply, aiming for the cracked runway.

She rested her back against the door and facepalmed. "Vanessa, please open up." The very familiar voice came through. "I know you can hear me. Please just open up. I promise not to take much of your time." He said, then waited for her to open up but there was no reply. He sighed. "Some of the staff are passing and throwing me suspicious looks. You wouldn't want them to start spreading rumours about us. Would you?" The staff quarters was big. Every staff had their own ensuite bedrooms. There was also a general kitchen where they had their food. Brian Matthews had never set foot in the staff quarters so his presence there was enough to worry the staff that saw him in the quarters.

~Kim's POV~ The fluorescent lights of the executive floor hummed like a predator's low growl as I clutched the leather portfolio to my chest, my heels clicking a frantic rhythm against the marble. One wrong word today, and Damien Santiago would devour me whole. But God help me, part of me craved it.

Alex and even Erica had to use their hands to block the rays of bright light as they squinted. Right at the spot where the magic circle had appeared, three figures in silver colored armor could be seen, with a peculiar curved sword and helmets that covered their entire face. But the figure at the forefront gave a different vibe and his blood-red eyes could be seen through his helmet, Alex found this spooky over his comrades with orange eyes. " Go get the skriller's body" the red-eyed figure at the forefront gave a command in deep masculine voice. Swiftly, one of the sliver armored men disappeared from his position while the other remained behind the red-eyed figure.

In battle, we coordinate according to teams, and you will take the battle station you are assigned. Then she looked over at me. "The only person here who may have other duties is the Luna. Everyone else, if you do not report for duty, there will be severe consequences. And if a battle is raging and you don't report, the consequences will most likely be death." Eve looked around the group. "Okay, everyone! Talk and get to know the other members of your team. In the heat of battle, you will come to depend upon one another, so be nice." Then she walked away, leaving us to talk.

grinned widely and placed a hand over my shoulder. “So we’re a team now!” He beamed and pulled me close to him as we followed Skyr. We stopped the moment Skyr turned to face us. He said as command to the system using words that I did not hear. Two humanoid bots suddenly emerged from the platform and stood beside Skyr. “First of all, I would like to welcome the two of you to Squadron C. Our main focus is for combat.” I raised my hand. “Aren’t there a few of us?” I gestured to myself, Jack and him.

He has a mysterious personality and since I killed his family I’d left him alone for a bit. Since I have joined this team I have felt at home, and I haven’t felt that way for so long, I crave the joy that comes with belonging somewhere. It’s been years since I have been able to share a happy conversation with someone and with Natalie here I feel as though I belong somewhere, as though I am needed. And honestly I think I am here to protect Natalie, though she seems to be will protected, especially with Ash and her bow around.
