“Sominatosa fortressa!” Darkness overwhelmed him, but the taste of her blood on his tongue was worth every lonely night of the long winter, and falling asleep with her in his arms was the perfect moment before death. “What have you done?” The master-of-arms shouted as he bent over the unconscious humans. “They only sleep, but we must hurry.” the warlock announced haughtily. “Would you rather they be able to identify your prince as the one who broke down their fences, killed their males and attacked this female?”

I elbowed him, but he didn’t even flinch. Idiot. Onion-head. "Anyway," the bald man went on, returning to his grim tone, "Eryx started gathering followers. Other warlocks who thought like him. Who saw wolves as a subspecies. Beasts with strength but no will of their own. Beings who didn’t deserve the gifts they had." "And that’s how the war began," the bartender added, his voice almost a whisper. "Warlocks against wolves," Icarus said, arms crossed, his voice deep and tense.

The distinction between a warlock and a poison witch doctor was that a warlock practiced a specific type of sorcery called black magic that originated in Southeast Asia. Black magic was a hybrid of witchcraft and curses designed to retaliate against specific people. Smack! "Damn it!" Chancellor Snyder slapped the table, frustrated. His entire body erupted in golden light, and behind his head appeared a crown-like halo that resembled the sun. That happened in a flash, but it reminded Chad of who the chancellor really was—Micah Snyder. Chad had learned that name from Grayson. Micah was once one of the ten most powerful warriors who fought in the battles beyond the sky.

Ajax raised his hand to the opening and Zayn tilt his head in rage. There was no way he would succumb to the vices of the enemy. "I'm not going anywhere with you," Zayn tightened his fist once again and Ajax scoffed and said, "Agreed, you're powerful but witches would always be a pain in the ass. A good reason they were destroyed from the Inhuman world" 'Ihuman world'. Could he be referring to the wolf world? He had no idea and an opening had appeared silently behind him as he made to move at Ajax, the force from within pulled him inside.

And the friend who we now call the enemy. Slone. A new warlock.

They did their job, and this one died in the process. "A vampires bite poisons the blood, how is it that he contained both while living for so long?" I questioned glancing at the man. He smiled "I would tell you if I knew but im afraid we don't know everything" he seemed to be a naturally kind person, which was strange. I looked through the rest of the sheets. I said, gripping his shoulder, grounding him. “There are more,” he whispered. “Further in…” I looked around again. Silver embedded in skin. Bones twisted at unnatural angles. Fangs pulled out. Fingers crushed. I stood slowly, fists clenched at my sides. “Humans will pay for this,” I looked at Arnon again, and for the first time that night, I did not feel the weight of the crown. I felt the weight of war. “And for the rest of humanity with them.” The war was not against witches. They were the oldest evil of the land. The war was against humans... humans who sold their souls to witches in exchange for power strong enough to stand against wolves.

I tried to count how long I had been gone from my mates and I counted atleast a month and a half maybe two but it was confusing as between the abuse they would hold me sleeping in their experiments. I had the fortunate to meet many hunters and vampires, werewolves and witches but the worst was him. I don't know his name but he is a warlock / necromancer and he discovered something really funny. If they drain me or leaves a large wound that I'm too weak to heal then he can come in and take control of my body as my werewolf goes to sleep too perserve energy and my vampire side awakens just a bit. So this warlock loves too experiment on me to see how far he can push my body to make his bidding.

I hated everything about the man. But it just so happened he was the best mage in the country, other than Warlord who had some strange accentuated power no one could explain. I’d heard whisperings he was less than human though. He could be a demon. Hawk certainly acted like a demonic minion. I made it a point to always go out of my way to avoid the striking man. The other mage’s fawned over him. But I just want him to go the hell away. But Hawk was Hawk. And he did whatever the bloody hell he wanted. Which obviously meant torturing me at every opportunity.

"So, say it slow for the girl who missed a decade. The last fight in North Carolina popped the Gray like a blister. All kinds of crap came running out into the real world. We shacked up with the Blackwoods, made a bunch of babies, passed some supernatural laws, and spent years driving around like a popular TV show, taking out the uglies one city at a time." She took a cautious sip of the bitter sludge and winced. "Then, more poop. Some asshat magician caused a Pulse and stole the magic from the furry ones. Now humans, warlocks, and God knows what else are fighting for a pound of flesh. Was this all Asmodeus? Just his greed?"
