We drove back to the house to drop off Brent’s car and Asmodeus snapped us from there to the castle. When we arrived, it was completely trashed. What the hell happened here? We walked through the castle, room by room, searching for any sign of life. “Hello?! Is someone there?!” I heard faintly coming from the basement. I ran downstairs and saw my best friend strung up by her wrists on a beam, she looked scratched up and her clothes were torn. I saw patches of dry blood on her skin and clothes. She looked partly healed but her body was still in rough condition.

“But you have no control yet,” He said with a warning tone. I simply ignored him and made my way down the stairs towards the dungeon. My heels clacking against the stone ground. I wore a strapped, pale green maxi dress that was cut just above my ankles. I hear Cassius follow behind me. According to him, the dungeon is located at the very bottom of the castle and there are about six floors. The dungeon is hidden and no one knows about it except for the royal family and some few servants that guard the place.

Pressing the bricks on the wall like he did earlier, Rosa spoke to Vance. “We’re in a dungeon, right? It’s an old castle. Not too big but still a castle for royalty. There must be a way to get out like in those historical movies where one of these bricks will lead to a secret tunnel. Check the walls or something!” Vance nodded and helped her out. The scream from the creatures got louder as the sound above them becomes clearer. Back up was getting closer which is both good and bad and bad is because the creatures are getting agitated and there was a dent in one of the metal bar.

Deep within the bowels of the ancient castle, where torchlight flickered like dying stars against damp stone walls, Elder Throne paced the center of the hidden dungeon. The air hung heavy with the scent of mildew and forgotten secrets, the chamber a forgotten relic from the pack's turbulent history. The second I finished talking to Queen Ashley I was escorted to the dungeon area of the castle. The guards walked me to the caverns and through a tunnel, of pure stone. Torches hanging on the walls illuminate the narrow tunnel, the only sound is our own feet hitting the cold stone as we walk. Archer interjected, diffusing the tension between James and Darcus. The guards saluted us as Darcus, and I walked through the castle's entrance. Henry, our main point of contact, was waiting in the hallway near the entrance of a grand, metal-clad door leading into the castle's heart. The scent of flowers from the castle gardens filled the air. The castle interior was awash with the glow from magical flames suspended in the air, providing a light comparable to modern-day lights. Guards stood vigilant at their posts. It felt like I had stepped into a European castle centuries ago.

The two guards in front of the princess's door noticed the servant but as she was not very pretty, they ignored her. In a combination of shape shifting and invisibility, Brinn made her way to the dungeon. She was surprised to find it mostly empty. "Where is everyone?" she wondered. Silently, she backed out of the prison and went exploring. The large hall for parties, the banquet hall and the front entry were in ruins. Some of the rock had already been cleared, and Brinn could see the stars though the missing roof. She dug through the rocks to find the few of her belongings that she valued. Most of them were damaged, but still usable. She tucked them away.

Nodding, Chance begins to move, only stopping long enough to grab my wrist. Stumbling, I am left to follow as thrums of torturous energy run through my entire body. We continue to move until we are below the bottom floor of the castle, where the dungeon resides. "Where are we going?" I ask as my anxiety begins to flare. "And who is Bruno?" Chance doesn't respond to my question. Instead, he stops in front of a large metal door and then pulls a set of keys from his pocket. Releasing my wrist, he unlocks the door and pushes it open enough to reveal a large dark pool sitting in the middle of a room with benches on either side.

It was midnight and the castle had gone to sleep. Torches in the corridors had burned down to stubs, leaving only faint orange flickers that barely reached the corners. The wind outside howled low against the stone, carrying the distant scent of pine and coming snow. Jada moved like a ghost, cloak pulled tight, hood up, soft boots silent on the flagstones. She had rounded the castle and reached the back, nearing the narrow stone staircase that descended into the dungeon entrance. The bag she carried, hidden beneath her coat, was small but heavy: dried bread, a flask of clean water, a few strips of dried meat, and the carefully measured healing herbs she had begged from the physician earlier.
