They are talking about me. I look down at my hand, imagining my flesh rotting, peeling away to reveal stark white bone. I shake my head, expelling the intrusive thought. "I would suggest not using words like that around her. Not right now," Roel mutters. The wall is cold against my back as I lean closer to the archway. I'm desperately trying to fight off the itching in my nose from the flowers that seem to be spawning everywhere around me. "It has to be magic," Crimson hisses.

"I'm marrying into the Woodrow family and attending my own wedding. What's wrong with that?" I dropped the bombshell with icy calm. The other end of the line fell dead silent.

Cold. Deep. Unforgiving. I don’t fight it. I let it swallow me whole. And I disappear into it.

I wimped as I hit the ground. Then they walked out of the room, slamming the door shut. I tried to push back the tears that were stinging my eyes, but it was no use. The tears ran down my cheeks. The cold was deeper now. It wasn’t just the concrete floor or the icy breeze that made its way from under the door. It was the kind of cold that settled into my heart, heavy and unmoving. It was like something had frozen inside of me.

Sofia’s POV I walked deeper into the frozen room which was located in the kitchen and you’d have to take a door into the kitchen before making your way into it. I shivered a little as I walked further into the room, because like the nsme entails, it really is frozen and gosh, it was really cold.

I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply, letting the air fill my lungs while I assessed my body and heart. It was only the morning of my birthday, and I knew my gifts wouldn’t manifest until tonight under the bright moon. The fact that it was a Blue moon made my insides tingle. Blue moons in and of themselves were rare. Mix it with the Cold full moon of December, which was always special to witches, made this an extraordinary night. Or, so I hoped.
