As soon as I entered the house my nose instantly picked the aroma of grilled chicken floating in the air. The delicious aroma had my mouth water fueling my hunger further. Ignoring my begging stomach, I walked further inside the house and headed to the kitchen. My eyes brightened in delight at the sight of Granny who was setting the utensils on the table. Granny is half-American, half-Italian with beautiful coffee eyes and tan skin. Her long brown hair was pulled into a tight bun. Even at the age of seventy-three, she looked breathtaking. She still maintains herself and it shows.

Because wishing won’t change reality, right? I was still caught up in those thoughts when granny and I made our way back from shopping. We’d spent way more time out than planned, but honestly, when you’re with granny, everything takes twice as long. She stops to talk to strangers, checks prices twice, and has a story for every little thing. “The young man is really a nice person,” granny said suddenly, pulling me out of my thoughts. Her tone carried that soft approval she rarely gave out, and I already knew exactly who she meant.

I grabbed the red cloth we were sitting on and took it with me as I walked behind Jaden into the kitchen. " Granny " Jaden called as we passed through the kitchen where I placed the red cloth on one of the chairs and moved into the living room. " Upstairs " She replied. She came down dressed elderly but spry in her yellow cotton dress, hiding her slightly slim and short body, a white apron on top of it that was covered with pink and blue flowers. Granny was a woman of thin face and a soft creamy complexion. Jaden always said she resembles a cappuccino, with her somehow extended wrinkles that gave her age away, but miraculously spotless allowing her small brown gentle eyes to shine.

Emerald became the main topic of gossip in the neighborhood too. In the past, she liked to exaggerate and flaunt her “generosity” and “wealth.” But I had exposed her. When people saw her lately, they could not resist taking jabs at her. “Look, it’s Emerald. She used to brag about giving her son-in-law an 880,000-dollar wedding gift. It turned out to be only 8,800 dollars. What a joke!” “She even encouraged her daughter to attack the man. Now, he’s paralyzed. What a disaster!”

Suddenly, the elderly woman burst into laughter. “Look at them, guys. Then, Steve’s voice broke through. “Don’t tell me you’re on a live stream, Granny?” His voice asked, thick with disbelief and irritation. His granny titled her phone slightly, confirming that his assumption was right. “Of course, I am! Have you forgotten today is Thursday? It’s my cooking class day!!” She chirped excitedly, not giving a damn about the damage she had caused me.

I came out and decided to just wear shorts and a maroon coloured shirt with some flipflops considering its just downstairs and to eat dinner I'll just call Nessa when I come back to the room I reasoned as I charged my phone and went down the stairs. I got to the dining table and met everyone sitted already granny sitting at the head of the table, caroline at her left hand side , the little girl who I later found out that her name w*s Macy w*s sitting at granny's right hand side , Adrian w* sitting beside Macy leaving me to sit beside caroline which is opposite Adrian. So, if you wake up one day and I'm gone, trust Alex with your life so that you have a good companion in life." I smiled and giggled. "Granny, are you trying to be a matchmaker between me and Alex?" "If I say yes, what can you say, child?" Granny said, her eyes gleaming with something I can't comprehend. She responded to my question in a funny way, and I softly laughed. "Actually, Alex is not bad. He's a good-looking guy." I confessed to Granny my admiration for the first guy that caught my attention. I found myself giggling like a teenager.

My mom and sisters are staying over at some luxurious hotel and everything. As a struggling romance author, my mom rarely makes much money, but my mom's new friend is paying for everything. I wonder if that friend is a male? She hasn't dated since dad died... "Oh, do you want more cookies?" My granny asks someone inside the living room, which is odd. Since when does she invite people over for cookies? I lift an eyebrow and stalk inside the house. The air smells like freshly baked chocolate-chip cookies. It's my granny's specialty. I could go for a cookie myself. Are there any left for me?

She’s told me a lot about you.” I said, patting my head to adjust my rough curls. “She did?” Granny King asked in that sweet, kind voice. “Rachel has been known to be loquacious and over time, I’ve found out that she tells people I’m a pain in her ass.”

she snaps, as his face turns bright red. “Mom! Really,” I hear, as my mother hugs my father. A series of laughter and “oohs” break out and I just shake my head. “So, I’m ready to spill my guts,” granny finally says. She waves her hand, and a camping chair appears, then she quickly sits. “Ohh it’s been a day chasing after all of you. I’m ready for a vacay,” she says, fanning herself with her hand. I can’t even process the weird things happening right now, and nobody else seems to think it's weird.
