If we don’t stop her, if we don’t get Orion back, then I might as well be dead.
Nero turns to leave, but before he steps out, he pauses, glancing back at me one last time. There’s a flicker of something in his eyes—something almost like pity—but he pushes it down, his expression hardening once more.
“You’d better pray we’re not too late,” he says, his voice cold.
And then he’s gone, the door slamming shut behind him, leaving me alone in the silence, with nothing but the weight of my mistakes pressing down on me like a lead weight.
